I am currently taking trental, an anticoagulant, for problems with numbness and tingling.

Today, I had an awful headache, and I absentmindedly took two Excedrin migraine, which has acetaminophen and asprin in it.

About 40 minutes later, I broke into a cold sweat. I felt very faint and very cold. My heart was racing. This lasted for quite some time before I realized my mistake.

Could Excedrin migraine cause these symptoms? I have been taking trental for about a month and a half, and I am not too familiar with anticoagulants.

Any help please!!

I would go to the ER just to be safe.,

I do not know the answer to your question,

Excedrin has caffeine in it and that could be more culprit than anything. Maybe the combo of the blood thinning and the aspirin plus the caffeine is too much.

How are you now?

I had a reaction similar to that when taking Excedrin, years ago before LD. It was the caffeine I think. I had to get my husband to come and get me at work it was so bad. It wore off in a few hours.

Whew! Remind me not to take that stuff! Drinking iced tea can make my heart race!

How are you? Did you go to Urgent Care or something? They can check your PTT.

I almost went to the ER, but then the effects seemed to slowly wear off.

I think the combo was just too much with the trental.

I will make sure to never do that again though!

Aspirin is also an anticoagulant, and the caffeine in Excedrin speeds the absorbtion of the medication. You may have caused an overdose.

Thanks shaz for that article.

After reading it, I definitely think I caused an overdose.
