My PCP said my tonsils seem swollen and she's seeing some inflammation and wants to put me on 100 mg of Doxy 2x day along with 100 mg Diflucan for 10 days. I'm already taking 500 mg Biaxin 2x day, 500 mg Ceftin 2x day, and 1 Malarone per day.
Is it OK to take ALL this stuff? I'm almost out of Ceftin and have access to no more so that'll be out of the picture. My doc won't refill that. The ID doc cut me off.
Taking three Abx and more makes me nervous, but I'm feeling terrible lately. I was running a fever of 99.6 - 100.0 deg too and I usually am 97 deg or lower. I'm so weak that it's hard to do anything.
My PCP said the Doxy would help with a Myco infection, though my IgM levels are fine.
She was not comfortable providing any anti-viral treatment for EBV, Chlymadia Pneumonia, etc. She thought they were all past infections not worth bothering with.
She had no idea what Babesia is and said if the Malarone helps, don't stop. She's kind of a mix of traditional / holistic medicine. She's very open to learning things, but isn't an expert in these TBDs or viral infections.

Hi seekhelp~ Does your PCP know that you are on the other medications? If she has OK'd it, then that's one thing. If she doesn't know about it, then you should take only what she has prescribed.
Take probiotics too, to keep your GI tract healthy.
I'm sorry that she does not agree that the Cpn and EBV need attention. However, the doxy will treat Cpn, so that's a good thing. You would need it for longer than 10 days though to kill off Cpn....
Best, Timaca
