I've done lots of research and even posted on her before with respect to herxing, what I don't get is:

1. How do you know if your not detoxing enough or if its a herx

I was feeling better at the begining of the month had a telephone conference with my LLMD and said I'm actually having good days yata yata and since I've been dizzy (my first symptom) like in the begining and just feeling like crap.

2. How do you know its a herx? I know that Lyme reproduces every four weeks is that the only time you can herx?

3. How do you make it stop?

4. Whats the longest anyone has herxed?

I started my new regimen on October 13, 2008 and have felt good and bad at points but now I feel like poop I am two months in.

5. IS this normal? to see little improvement and then back to the drawing board?

Thanks [Smile] Sorry if this is confusing I can't think straight right now.

You got to read this..

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_285/ai_n19170382/pg_1?tag=artBody;col1

Lyme toxins the primary cause of your symptoms!

When a doctor uses an antibiotic and kills some Lyme spirochetes, there is a resultant Jarish-Herxheimer (Herx) reaction--i.e., a worsening of the patient's symptoms in response to the increased release of bacterial die-off toxins. The toxins are dumped into the bloodstream and circulated throughout the body, until they can either be eliminated by the body or lodged in areas of weakened tissues. As neurotoxins, they are preferentially taken up by nerve tissue. These lodged toxins are one reason why symptoms can persist even after the actual Bb infection is gone, because the toxins can remain as an irritant in the tissues for years.

In truth, a severe Herxheimer reaction is a sign of poor elimination pathway drainage, poor organ support, and poor treatment by your doctor. The bodies of most chronic Lyme sufferers are toxic dumps to start with, therefore, if a doctor does not get the pathways of elimination open and working, the body grows even more toxic as the bacteria begin to die and their toxins dump. Many doctors think good treatment is indicated by the fact that you feel like crap, i.e., worse than usual, which they feel confirms that they have selected an effective antibiotic. Most of my chronically ill patients cannot afford to feel worse just from the treatment. The person with Lyme disease has already suffered enough; they don't need to go through a "herx" just to prove they have Lyme disease.

thank you Ikhdad! great article!

let me apologize in advance if I sound negative but does that mean that I need to find a new llmd?

I honestly don't think I can afford it!

I do feel like the pa which is the only person I see at this point for some reason isn't that knowledgeable.

for instance I asked her about detox and she said to do fir sauna and then after my suggestion I said epsom salt baths? and she said sure add peroxie and baking soda too.

and then I asked doesn't that cross react with bart (which I got a clincal diagnoses) and she said I've never heard of that.

I don't mean to complain I feel fortunate to have an llmd but im just frustrated

sorry for the novel

Thanks
melissa
