Yes it can cause damage to your nerves. It is often called Neuropathy. It can cause pain, stinging sensations, burning/very hot sensation, extreme coldness, numbness, etc...
I have Poly-Neuropathy according to a nerve conduction study, just means 'many nerves'. But I could have to the Dr.'s, not need for the test!!!
Only my experience----For the first time I found a Dr. that actually treated it!!! I take Lyrica 25mg in a.m., and 150mg. in p.m. as it does make me sleepy and groggy feeling. But, for the first time in years my feet don't feel like I have them in the fire all the time!!!!
Some stinging sensations have gotten better, but I still have some of that. However, much better than before!
Some don't care for this med.; it's a personal choice between you and your Dr. Do the research, look at the pros and cons and talk it over with your LLMD.k
I'm sure many others will come with things that have helped them!
