Does anyone know if there are products we can give our cats and dogs to keep ticks away?
Does Revolution work against ticks?
Is there an effective vaccine for animals?
Thanks!

Vacine - No
Anti Tick meds - Yes. Not sure ofhte name but get the one that handles both dog ticks and deer ticks. It costs about twice as much as the dog tick only stuff. It goes on as a liquid. A bit on the back and a bit on the neck.

Frontline is the only product that kills ticks on cats (it does fleas and ticks only). Advantix or Frontline is what is used for dogs. Advantix repels mosquitoes and horse flies also. Advantix is dangerous for cats. Advantix repels and kills ticks so they never attach, whereas Frontline kills them only after they attach. Frontline is a bit gentler and recommended for smaller dogs. Revolution doesn't do ticks. Cats usually groom ticks off before they attach, so most people prefer advantage-multi because it does fleas, mites, intestinal parasites, and heartworm in cats. Do not use over the counter products (i.e. hartz, etc.)- shady chemicals and not very effective... The vaccine for dogs is pretty effective- not 100%, but better than nothing. Advantix and Frontline both address many types of ticks- more types than anything else.
