I have been trying to work my way up to maximum dose of zithromax. My questions is do most of you split doses of this abx or take at same time. Whatever dose is 500mg, 750mg, or ?

THanks for you input. My pres says one or two tablets daily but doesn't say morning evening, going to call Dr. to see how I'm supposed to take.

Cindy

You can take Zithromax once per day because it stays in your system a few days. Usually it's 600 mg once per day with dinner, or if you are on 1,200 mg per day the dose is broken in 2 am and pm doses just to make it easier on your stomach.

I was advised to split it into 2 doses to make it easier on the stomach.

Yes I heard back from Dr. said I an take together unless too hard on stomach then I can split.

I took together today and was fine. But I had food in my stomach.

Also with Zithromax I have improved so much with in the first week only half dose!

Doxi made me feel so bad, but it was early in my treatment so maybe any abx would of made me feel bad. Ceftin was a little better but not much improvement, Seemed to have lots of anxiety with both.

Now on med for anxiety and sleep, Zithromax seems to be doing the trick for now.

Thank you for your responses.

Hey [Smile]

I was advised to take azithromycin on an empty stomach. More effective then. I have no stomach upset.

Wow yes we are all different, its so odd now that I have a choice of how to take it don't know which one to pick [Smile]

Was thinking of spliting it...I did really well on one tablet so I will add 2nd dose now together probably at lunch time, this will be inbetween all my vitamins and supplements.

No I am only taking the Zithromax alone right now 500mg. IT is the best I have felt in 10 weeks of other abx.

Thanks for all suggetions,

Cindy
