I have heard of someone curing lyme solely by taking TOA free Cat's Claw (Samento).

I have read some articles about this as well.

Have any of you tried this and if so, what happened?

Thanks,

Do a search for Cat's Claw on the forum. I recall at least 3 posters asking ths same question this month. [Smile] Lots of good info is out there. Bottom line....no, very few believe Cat's Claw is a cure or even super helpful.

There's no single shot remedy for lyme. Samento alone could work for acute cases, I believe, but it won't work alone as solo therapy for crhonic cases. If you get coinfections (most of us have), you will need other treatments even for the acute case (it's been our experience at home).

It has been the most useful herb against lyme for me long term (not exactly the Samento brand Toa free, but the whole herb). I took it literally for years and it's my remedy number one when active lyme comes back.

I took both in tincture and in powder, from Rain tree (brand I recommend because it saves the plant from being killed). It helps immensely but it's not a sole therapy. In my case whole herb worked better and for longer time than Samento toa free. Even though, in a few times, Samento also helped.

There are LOADS of info on cats claw in this forum as said before.

If you do a search on the link above for "cat's claw" and another on "samento" you will find many very lengthy links.

this question pops up about once a month.

=

for myself, regular cat's claw, not Samento, has helped calm neuro symptoms. It is not enough alone, to address the infection, however.

There is no independent medical literature done on TOA-free cat's claw. I contacted the authors of the Samento studies many times for the published studies and they would never supply any 3-rd party references.

Buhner says the same thing in his book, "Healing Lyme . . ." when he discusses this.

Still, I've taken Samento as well as the regular cat's claw. Both have some effects, for sure. However, I and two of my friends with lyme both spent months on Samento when told it was a near cure. It clearly was not for any of us (who all had chronic lyme + co.).

Concerning regular cat's claw, Singleton discusses it; Buhner offers a full presentation.

. . . Research in Argentina reports that cat's claw is an effective antioxidant; other researchers in 2000 concluded that it is an antioxidant as well as a remarkably potent inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha production.

. . . In addition to the immunostimulant alkaloids, cat's claw contains the alkaloids rhynchophylline, hirsutine, and mitraphylline, which have demonstrated hypotensive and vasodilating properties.

Herb Pharm is also another very good source for the regular cat's claw. I LOVE this product. Immediate calming effects. When the team of leaf-blowers spend hours here each Tuesday, it's the only thing keeping me - and them - alive. It does support the endocrine and nervous system.

Samento is much more powerful than cats claw - one article says it is 1000 x's more potent.

Nutramedix Samento claims to also hit co-infections - link: http://www.bionatus.com/nutramedix/pdfs/antimicrobialcompared_Bs.pdf

An LLMD in NYC did a study using Nutramedix (Cowden protocol) and found it 70% effective but he said he believed it did not hit babesia.

I am a hard herxer - but Samento sent me spinning - it was a powerful herx, so much so I had to temporarily stop. But I also do abx - low doses combo's.

That's what the guys who put the patent say, Samento is better than whole herb.

I don't buy this, in my experience and in many other people experience with Buhner's herbs, it is not always the same. I see more people prefer whole herb than Samento. I started on both in 2005, so I got some years of trial and error with these herbs.

I tried both and have still both at home. In my case, I have no doubt whole herb works better than Samento. I think since 2005, I only used 2 small bottles of Samento (and I still have one left home), while I have used at least 3 kilos of cats claw so far. (I guess this makes more than 6 pounds).

Buhner also doesn't buy this idea. No independent research has ever proved this so far (people who do the research are the SAME people who put the patent in the market).

Even though, I have to admit, sometimes Samento tested better (in about 5% of the time, or even less). For a few people though, they swear on Samento rather than on whole herb.
