My doctor wants to prescribe Bicillin CR to me but from what I've been reading from other lyme patients it seems that most of them take the Bicillin LA. Which one is best for lyme? Has anyone had good results from Bicillin and should I expect to have some pretty heavy duty herxes from it?

I am unsure if Bicillin CR is long acting although I do know it contains Procaine.
I personally have never seen anyone use Bicillin CR and normally Bicillin LA is prescribed as its long acting and gives steady state blood levels.
It says on the product information that CR should NOT be used for syphalis so I assume it shoudl not be used for Lyme.
I would re check with your doctor as again Bicillin LA is the norm.

Thanks, Rianna. Your information is the same as what most others have said. I guess I will have to tell the doctor about this and ask him to give me the LA and not the CR. Hope he takes it well and not get offended by it.
Anyone else want to comment on this?

I've been on Bicillin for a while, and I've never even heard of CR!

You need Bicillin LA for Lyme, not CR.

Yeah, that's what I've come to realize. I'm going to talk to the doctor and see if he will prescribe the LA instead of the CR. Thanks for your response.
