Does it matter if I was bitten while in Europe? Do they need to run different tests to dx? Not sure if Lyme in Europe is same as Lyme here in US.

Although I grew up in the Northeast and lived in other Lyme-endemic areas in the US, I have had one "bulls-eye" rash. This was during a year I spent in Ukraine.
I test positive for band 30. I have almost all neuro symptoms.
I don't think that the testing is as sensitive for garini and afzelini. I called Igenex once about testing for these strains and they don't do this. Too bad...
I don't think that treatment is different for the various strains, but I think the testing is worse for non-borrelia burgdorferi.
Good luck!

I was bitten in Italy but still positive for Borrelia Burgdorferi. My joint pain is nothing compared to the rest of neurological symptoms. I also have co-infections.
