I was on Alinia and Zithromax for quite some time, primarily for babesia treatment but also was thought to be a Lyme cystic form buster, similar to Tindamax.

Hi Jam-
My LLMD had me take Alinia to suture up the buggs before i took my Igenx tests-
The herx was perty strong (my First herx) I do think it dose kill of Babs to some extent -
Possible if you took it long enough it could hammer babs into submission --
Alinia did Fix my stomach right up tho- It is for parasites and it deferentially killed them off in my stomach--
My stomach has been 100% OK since I took the Alinia -- the name brand is stronger than the generic --Jay--

My LLMD is replacing my Mepron with Alina, clindamycin, and artemisinin (still on zithromax).
At first I panicked that my babesia won't go away without Mepron, but I realize that my LLMD knows what he's doing, so I should stop being such a control freak and "go with the flow".
The Mepron will always be there in the future, so why worry about trying something else for a few months?
Jam, I know we see the same LLMD so I probably didn't answer your question. However, I do know we continue to read that that Mepron is THE treatment for babesia, so understand where your questioning comes in. I think it's worth following the LLMD's instructions and giving different med combos a decent try. You can always tell your LLMD "this is not working for me" and he'll figure out another treatment plan.
I don't know enough about Alinia to know if it treats Lyme. In my quick google search, it appears to be an antiprotozoal only...not an antibiotic?

Erica741,
Out of curiousity, what was your dosage on Mepron? And how long were you on it?
It wasn't the magic bullet for my babesia, but I only took 1 tsp twice daily when I was taking it.
