I am wondering how long people go between herxes. Specifically bart and babs.
I had a crazy night last night. After having a good day--I even went for a swim--I woke up in the middle of the night and my foot was completely numb, hands tingling. I was feeling panicky.
At first, I couldn't put any weight on my foot. I got up and was able to "wake" my foot up after a short while. The tingling got better, too.
Right after that, the chills set in. No fever, but I felt like I was freezing and my teeth were chattering. After a while, that stopped and I was absolutely starving, had to get up to eat, and that never, ever happens.
Today I feel ok, just a sore throat, though my arm is twitching like crazy.
I just started new meds 2 weeks ago: Biaxin, Flagyl, and Mepron.
A couple of days into that, I felt kind of crummy, run down, some tingling, shin pain, twitching, etc. for a few days. Tired for about a week. But it was bearable enough, more like a "herx light."
So I'm wondering if bart herxes can just pile on, one after another, or if this is something new, like babs.
And what's with the starving thing? I thought all of these bugs were supposed to kill your appetite...
Thanks for any insight.

As for the starving...
Did you have enough food in your belly before taking the meds? If not... that could cause that problem.
Are you taking L-Glutamine? If so.. that may cause the "starved feeling" once your intestinal lining is being repaired. That is a good sign in that case and it will calm down in a few weeks.
As for herxing..
Exciting news. Hearing reports that Bart herxes can be on a two week cycle ... and Lyme on the 3 weeks to a month cycle.
Ain't we the lucky ones!
Sorry you are having so many problems! Feel better soon!

Julie, if Tincup is right about the bart herx then you're right on schedule. Would make sense! Your symptoms sound like bart to me. Have you been treated for this?

I am hoping that it is a bart herx. I spent the day on the couch yesterday, but today I am feeling human again. I am starting to think that all of my freaking out/anxiety/panic during these herxes is due to the bart.
I did 3 months on Levaquin last summer, but I never really felt like I had ever knocked bart out of my system. I think I may need another go at it, or something else, for a longer stretch of time. I think I've got a stubborn case.
Thanks for your replies.
