Some days I can hear blood swishing in the left side of my head. Right above my ear. Not always tho and doesn't seem connected to anything. Ideas?? It's making me nuts. It started when I was very ill and went away but comes back occasionally. Thx!

Do you notice any other symptoms when this happens? What is your usual blood pressure and pulse, and what is it during the "swishing" episodes?
How long does it last for? Have you done anything that seems to influence it?
There is a condition where you can have an unusual tangle of blood vessels that may cause you to hear some "noise" or have other symptoms.
At one point, I told my neurologist that I could hear my pulse in one of my ears when I lay down to sleep. I was having three week long migraines every month, but this symptom didn't seem to be connected to it.
Later on I realized that it may be related to cleaning my ears before bedtime.

I'm sorry I sound like a broken record. I have a swiching sound near my ear at times, but a lot less now. I am about 80-90% better. I think it is blood pooled near the ear caused by proto, in my opinion.
Anti-malarials with heparin. Herbs crypto with artemisinin.
Detox: infrared sauna, colonics anti-parasitics.
Juicing greens.

I have a constant 'whooshing' sound above and behind my left ear. It sometimes changes with postural moves. I think mine is associated with something gone wrong in my auditory canal and/or sinus cavity.

I have swishing or whooshing sound in one or both ears a lot. This just started about 15 mths ago for me. It will stay around for one-few days then leave. Returns and switches ears??? Crazy
I have experienced ringing very rarely, like 4 times a year and it only last for a few minutes. Thank God.
Some people hear that ringing 24/7 for years. I can't even image it.

When I turn my head I hear a faint swishing sound at my neck. Is this normal?
Ans: Sometimes blockages within the arteries of the neck can cause "swishing" sounds. The medical term for this is a "bruit". In the neck this is most often from the carotid artery.
The sound is created by turbulence in the blood vessel created when the blood is flowing past a blockage / narrowing. A very simple and non-invasive test for narrowing in the carotid arteries is a carotid ultrasound.
Also, read this post, a lot of people have this problem, and some have suggestions for treatment.

I too had the swooshing sound and told the Dr I could hear the blood rushing through the artery in my neck. It kept me awake at night. ABX treatment eventually stopped it completely. I still have a problem with my left ear as the hearing goes in/out and is always feeling like I need to "pop" the ear open - if only I could.

Yes. Have had this in both ears since I was a kid.
When I told the doc, he patted me on the head and told me I was sensitive to it.
But I also "hear" my scalp move. Think that is an ear thing.
Now I use the swooshing sound as an almost hypnotic to lure myself to sleep.

I've had this for years, many years. It seems to move around at times, if I move my head side to side (today) I hear it in the back of my head.
I love the ocean, so I just think of it as waves.
