I am treating Babs very aggressively right now as my LLMD and I believe this is causing the worst of my symptoms. Since I am mega-dosing Mepron, insurance will only pay so much (per standard dosing).
Anyway, I'm looking for other ways to get Mepron at an affordable cost. So...without all of your concerns for quality control, if it's an equal drug as the U.S. etc. I understand all of this.
I just want to know if anyone knows if it's available in Mexico? Has anyone purchased it there? How much?
Thanks for input! TS

....I've gotten most of my meds from Mexico over the years...I was never able to find mepron there. Also on a brand name like that you won't save as much as you'd think even if you can find it.
If you can tolerate sulfa you might try adding bactrim to the mepron you take...it has much the same effect and the two are frequently given together to aids patients for a parasitic or fungal type of pneumonia.
my non professional 2 cents worth.

hey TS - interesting that you're now treating for babs - i am too (tested positive for duncani). makes me wonder if our similarly crazy CNS symptoms are babs-related!
i'm on mepron and zith, just started several days ago. also, charlie, i am tossing in some bactrim, which i've already been on and have found helpful.
i'll be curious to hear if others have been able to get mepron cheaper somewhere... lynne

Sorry I don't have any leads on getting Mepron in Mexico or any other countries.
However, I do know some patients who get their Mepron for free through GSK's patient assistance program. I don't know if you can qualify because you have insurance, but it would be worth a try.
I'm pretty sure the application process requires that the doctor fill out the patient assistance request form and submit directly to GSK.
I couldn't find any info or forms on GSK's website regarding Mepron patient assistance in the US. Here is the website, you hopefully you can find some helpful info or call GSK directly tomorrow to inquire. http://us.gsk.com/
Though I think your best bet is asking your LLMD to submit a form on your behalf.
If that doesn't work out, I'd look into getting Mepron from Canada.
Good luck! Erica
