Last Thursday I was hit with the most excruciating pelvic pain ever. I deal with abdominal pain on a daily basis, but this is the big time!
It is so bad I can't stand up, am throwing up because of it, and actually dreaming of having pain meds that would take it away!
I called my doc on Friday and told him what was going on-he is my one and only doc-who is a cardiologist-and said he would have to put me in hospital.
I am about 300 miles away from him, and said I would give it to Monday to see how I feel, but it's not looking good.
This year at this time-the 27th of February was when I went into a coma from infection in my heart-so I am a little gun shy.
He said he could put me in and treat the pain, nauseau, and try to figure out the pelvic pain, but that was it-nothing to do with lyme.
It really feels like a bad infection-like that whole region is eaten up!!!

Astria, how horrible that you're going through this!
I know the kind of pelvic pain you're describing, and it makes you entire world shrink to nothing, it is so consuming.
Please listen to your doc - you need to find the cause, and maybe going in will get you some answers.
Do you have a history of endometriosis or adenomyosis? They are both linked to Lyme, and can cause excruciating pain (I'll attest to that!).
Hang in there, breathe through the pain, and give yourself a a visualization of someplace to hang onto when the pain takes over.

I'm sorry you're going through this. PLEASE PLEASE go to the hospital. I can't imagine why you wouldn't.

I have had a hysterectomy,gallbladder and appendix removed because of this pain.
it has never been like this-they have never been able to find the reason-but surely to goodness something will show this time.
does anyone have any ideas for me to tell my doctor-i am also running a fever.
i have to drive 300 miles to see my doctor also, so will not be an easy trip!

Please go to the hospital ASAP, you never know if there is a blood clot or something causing the pain.
I am worried about you traveling 300 miles in such horrible pain, I know that when my daughter is in severe pain, going to the doctor 30 minutes away is almost too much.
Can you go to your local hospital, rather than traveling so far?

Good Morning, as far as what you should tell your doctor: Tell him how long you have had lyme, tell him what meds you have taking from the beginning of your lyme treatment etc.
Tell him everything you possibly can so they can find out where this pain is coming from.
I really wish you the best and I'm sure you'll feel better soon.

I'm with the other posters...is there anyway you can just go to the local hospital?? Or the closest hospital that has more advanced units in case it is something serious??
This sounds like it could be very serious, you have a fever and are vomiting, this indicates severe infection.

I have been to so many ERS and hospitals in my quest and am so gunshy to them sending me on my way.
I was sent away with a 105 fever!!! and one day later was in a coma-
My doctor that did the open heart and knows about the Lyme is 300 miles away and my family will not hear of taking me anywhere local-they know it will be a waste-I am so stuck.

I can understand your concern. I hate hospitals, some are so much more incompentent than others. I almost died when they didn't know 'what' was wrong after my appendix burst. They finally took action when my fever spiked to 104.5 (from 99.5).
You must realize that sending you away with a temp like that is a fluke. Almost any hosptial would NOT do that because they would be SUED for malpractice.
Please though, if you feel that something is VERY wrong, go to a local hospital, not the same one that turned you away, they are obviously incompentent (by any chance was this a teaching hospital?).
Do you have any rigidity of your abdomen?? Like you cannot relax it and your breaths are shallow???
This would be a sign of serious infection. Please keep an eye on your body temperature and if you are not able to even keep down water, you must get help. You can become both dehydrated and possibly throw yourself into a metabolic adverse state due to the acidity being lost plus e-lytes.

go to symptoms list and you'll see that it's a big possibility as to why you are having these symptoms.(peritonitis is on the symptom list)
Have him check you for parasites and worms. Hope you are okay.

What was the infection in your heart that caused the coma? I did not know heart infections could push people into comas. Was it lyme? Was it myocarditis?

Carol...my thoughts too...kidney stones...calcium and sodium implications likely.
But...a gallstone -> pancreatitis can occur even many YEARS after the gall bladder has been removed (very rare, but it can happen).
Either way:
OUCH...MAJOR OUCH!!!
If pancreatitis of "unknown origin" is diagnosed...get a mammogram asap.
(The above happened to my sister in law - sudden pancreatitis while on vacation. The docs told her when she returned home to get a mammogram. They were right. The breast tumors were very small and caught very early (!), but pancreatitis can be a warning sign of breast cancer.)
IL1B and TNF alpha ongoing (inflammation) can be esp. hard on the pancreatic beta cells (insulin producing).
Gotta tame down the inflammation.

Culture-negative endocarditis would be more likely bartonella than Lyme, just fyi. Are you certain you're not coinfected with bartonella?? Lots of strains cause endocarditis and many other bizarre symptoms.

Like you I was also DX with Endocarditis. I am still here. What does your ECHO results read, Left Verticle problem by any chance? Do you have Bart & Lyme?
I just want you to know their is light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't have any heart surgery and am much better than I was.
