Hi everyone,

I need help. How do you take so many pills everyday? And the tincture drops? The schedule is relentless and the pills make me naseous and sick to my stomach.

I am (trying) to take up to 50 pills a day and like 5 different smelly, awful tasking tinctures 3/day. The doc cut it down for me at out last appt., but I'm still struggling.

These past months I've gone from hopeful, courageous and determined to discouraged, loathsome, rebellious, and defiant.

Now I'm just sad and depressed; how can I get better when I can't choke down the medicine?

Any ideas? Especially for the fowl-tasting drops? I've tried: tea, water, straight down, mixed with yogurt, mixed with foods, juices, separate, etc. Mixing with other tastes so far has just seemed to amplify the horrific taste/smell.

Any suggestions would help me so much! I feel so overwhelmed.

KR

kr, so sorry to read this, and have no idea for smelly stuff, but here's what i did for taking many pills per day BUT NOWHERE NEAR 50!

MEDS SCHEDULE:

BettyG's suggestion for taking MANY RX PILLS/SUPPLEMENTS and keeping them straight! This worked for me really well!! 6.6.08

yes , i can see why you are overwhemed;; i was too when i started 22 supplements 2nd llmd had me take.

first, write out a schedule of ALL MEDS with your llmd..
******************************************
* before you start, gather all together and split up or different times to take them!
* I bought 6 of those really large pill boxes they make.
* i have 1 for breakfast,, lunch, supper/dinner
* 10 am, 3pm, and bedtime,
* ok, now get all the bottles for B,L,D and write them down and how many for each meal..
* get those for 10 am, 3 pm, and bedtime together.
* then ONCE A WEEK, i do my pills separating to different times, etc.
* i do the one PILL FOR EACH meal before going onto the next meal.
* so if i have B, L, D//SUPPER; I'LL TAKE THOSE 3 BOXES SIDE BY SIDE and fill each with their dosage.
* then do the same on 10 am, 3 pm, and bedtime.
* my 10 & 3 were REFRIGERATOR ONES..... so i had them by frig; would turn over container after taking that time for that day;next time ... 3 pm would be on top to remind me!
* i also wrote on a SEPARATE PILL CALENDAR when i started and ended each med!
* can someone help you to start with so you are doing this correctly?

When I am being nauseated by my supplements, I stop them all to stop the nausea. Then I add them back slowly one at a time, trying to identify the offender.

I have also done this to eliminate the supplements that were not doing any thing to help me feel better and may possibly make me worse.

As my treatment progressed I found I was nauseated less easily. But until then, I did not take anything that upset my stomach. I believe in daily quality of life while under treatment. And being nauseated daily is not what I call a high quality.

I know every one's protocol is different, but I have not taken that many pills during my treatment course. And I have improved.

Have to advocate for our pocketbooks as well as our stomachs in this journey.

Best,
Karen

I created an XL spreadsheet with the times, quantities and med, and learned which ones work best on a full stomache, and which ones are best empty. Then I followed the sch religiously. I then created pc/memo reminders for when to take the meds, and will leave out certain meds on a clipboard/table next to all of them as an additional reminder. Plus, it helps having a spouse reminder as well.. : - )

Its sad and funny, but after a while, it just becomes 2nd nature to take the meds on a sch... and you'll learn which ones to group to make it easier.

Thanks for all of your advice!

Much of it sounds like what I already do and/or have done in the past. I guess it mostly comes down to discipline. I get tired and discouraged. I even considered seeing a hypnotist to help swallow them all. Or learn to meditate and separate myself from the body...from all of the swallowing.

I'm feeling whiny and burnt out I think.

Any suggestions for the foul-tasting drops?

Can you tell us exacty what you are taking? Knowing exactly what meds/tinctures combo you're on would enable those of us who've been on the same or similar combos to better advise you.
