Hi,
I got my lab results back for prelim bloodwork for my new LLMD next month.

My CH50 is low and the C4 is on the lower end of normal 16.1 (16-47 is normal). Online it says a sign of Lupus or other autoimmune disorders.

I'm sure that it can be from Lyme too?

On a good note, my mono and Lymphocytes are back up to a normal range, my total WBC has dropped some, but is still within normal range.

Hey Ocean,

According to my lab text book a Complement deficiency, low CH50, can be caused by infection. So, yes, in your case it probably is caused by Lyme rather than lupus or any other autoimmune disorder.

There is also a note here saying that C4 and the serum Complement level are sensitive to heat and will decrease if left at room temp for more than 1hr. So your sample could have easily been mishandled also?

Hope this helps relieve some anxiety for the time being. When you meet with your doctor they should be able to review all of your labs together which will give you a more complete picture of what's truly going on.
