My first appt. with a LLMD is March 17, but in the meantime I had my annual physical.

I got the test results from some blood work that was done and my TSH is low (about .5), my Vitamin D level is low and so is the protein level in my blood.

Could these low numbers be a reflection of Lyme? I have a bunch of other symptoms indicative of Lyme, but these three low values make me wonder if they aren't part and parcel of the problem as well.

I don't have my specific numbers handy, but can post them a little later if that would be helpful to anyone trying to help me.

Thanks!

Most of the population in the US is low in Vitamin D. People are not outdoors that much and when they are, they use sunscreen and avoid sun at noon, when D is most easily obtained from the sun.

What is the lower end of the reference range for you TSH? A lot of us have TSH that is too high, not low, meaning we have low thryoid. Have you been told you are hyperthryoid?

Thanks for your reply Shosty.
My TSH is .578. My T-4 is 1.07 and my T-3 is 2.3.

My doctor hasn't discussed the results with me yet, but if you can shed some light, I would be grateful.

Hi Leelee,
You seem to be possibly hyperthyroid. Mine TSH was 1 in October 2008 and I was having constant panic attacks/ anxiety. My TSH is now 2.2 and I feel SO much better anxiety-wise.

My TSH has also been too high before (hypo). Lyme really messes with the endocrine system and many of us has thyroid issues.

Glad you have an appointment with an LLMD!

Take care,
Ocean

Hi Ocean. Thanks for the help.

I too have panic attacks and anxiety. I also have post traumatic stress syndrome and depression. Everything except the depression was new to me until last fall.

It has been the scariest few months of my life. I think I am losing my mind. I now go to two psychiatrists and I keep telling them that my problems are triggered by something physical, not emotional.

They have given me all sorts of medicine to help with the psychological stuff and it props me up, but I need to find the source of these problems.

I don't think my appt. with the LLMD can get here soon enough.

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

Leelee,

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I know first hand how awful and life disrupting panic/anxiety is!

Yes, it DOES make you feel like you are losing your mind! You aren't though, believe me, I would have lost mine 12 years ago!

Are your physchologists receptive to the idea that this is a physicaly cause? Mine started just a couple months after I got sick. It helps me now to know that this is a physical cause. And I have gotten much better (anxiety wise) since the end of Nov 2008. And like I said, my thyroid levels are up.

Also, do you get sore legs/feet on a monthly cycle? I was for most of last year, the last time it happened (knock on wood!)was end of Nov.

Bartonella can also cause anxiety/panic.

My appointment with my new LLMD is March 12, just before yours, I know how difficult it is to wait!

take care,
Ocean

Hi Ocean,

I really appreciate your helping me sort through this. Yes, both of my psychiatrists are receptive to the idea that my emotional problems are rooted in something physical.

When I told one of them I suspected Lyme we talked about it for two entire sessions. She agreed and and even suggested a LLMD, but he is no longer taking new patients. :(

Fortunately I was able to locate another LLMD and, just as you are eagerly awaiting your appt., I am too.

I'm 52 and I went through menopause very young at about age 45 so I don't have the monthly cycle feet/leg aches that you so unfortunately suffer from.

However, the arches of my feet sear and throb with pain every night when I get into bed. It's crazy. I wear four pairs of socks to keep warm because my feet are so cold.

If I am lucky enough to get any sleep at all the pain in my right thigh and the pain in my arches will surely wake me up.

It's so nice to converse with you.

I hope things go well with your new LLMD and that you find even more relief.

Thanks again for your help with my thyroid questions! :)
