I just received a copy of my bloodwork and wondered if anyone can provide more insight. My Western Blot was done by Labcorp. I realize many things I have read say that Labcorp misses some bands but from what I can see here, it is definitely positive.
RESUTLS:
Lyme IgG/IgM Ab Index: 1.14 (positive)
ALL IgG bands listed here are listed as ABSENT (93,66,58,45,41,39,30,28,23 and 18)
Any additional information anybody can provide is much appreciated!!
I went to get tested thinking I was anemic because I was feeling miserable (exhaustion, joint aches, stiff neck, migranes, clenching jaw). I NEVER thought it would be positive for Lyme.I am not an dog/cat person and not outdoorsy AT ALL.
I think I may have gotten this when we went pumpkin picking at a place that was also a petting farm (although I didn't pet the animals) since we parked in moderately high grass. It is honeslty the ONLY place I think I may have gotten this!
Since my IgM is positive, doesn't the timing kind of fit?
Thanks!

Your test results are positive. IgM in most instances indicte new infection, not necessarily so with lyme. Lyme can be a chronic active infection even though you may have had it for years.
See Dr. C's Western Blot explanation at the top of this page.

You got the luck of the draw in testing.
From where I sit, it sure looks positive, too. Do you have a LLMD? Hope so. Even with a positive test, most doctors don't know how to treat - or for how long.
Some doctors will say it's a false-positive, so be aware of the desire to believe that.
You should also be assessed for other tick-borne diseases (TBD).
There are a couple other good labs for certain tests: Fry; Clognen; Focus. Your LLMD will know. Some say MDL does good work (but I don't know if they test all the bands).

Thanks for the replies. I have read the Dr. C's explanation. Very informative. I do believe it focuses a lot on false negatives. My doctor definitely is convinced I have lyme based on the test and my symptoms.
I am being treated with Doxy 100 mg 2x per day I realize this may be a bit low. I plan on asking my doctor about this tomorrow.
Thanks!

meme9300,
Be sure to ask your Dr how he plans on ruling out babesia, bartonella, ehrlichia, anaplasma, etc.
Yes, that doxy dose is low. I started treatment 3 weeks ago with doxy 200mg 2x per day, Zithromax 250 mg 2x per day, and Plaquenil 200 mg 2x per day.
You need a good LLMD.

How do Dr's usually rule out babesia, bartonella, ehrlichia, anaplasma, etc? Is this done via blood test? Can you know looking at the WB if you have these other things?
Thanks
