Hi all, Not sure if anyone else saw the episode of little people big world recently but Jacob had a tick on him.
No one knew what to do. Which was highly frustrating...and his brother and friend actually tried to burn it off of him while still attached!!
I couldn't believe it. I went to post on the shows discussion forum and saw that someone had already posted.
I was wondering if people from here could please post over there it may be a way to spread the word. Who knows if they get enough posts they may mention it on the show.

I doubt anything comes of it. One of the boy children on "Jon & Kate Plus 8" (I think it was Colin, but not sure) also had a tick on him, and it showed Jon taking it off of him in the epidode. I think Kate freaked out. It was interesting, they live in Pennsylvania, and there's green everywhere, so not uncommon I"m sure.
Nothing that I heard or read came of this tick attachment on a reality show, either.

That is funny that you mention "Jon & Kate Plus 8." I must have missed that episode. I was actually worried about that since they have moved and the kids play in the woods alot. I was thinking that since Penn. is fast on the rise of writing to them as well.
I may seem alittle nutty wanting to write to all these various shows, directors, ect. But the fact of the matter is if we just sit by and say and do nothing to educate the public then nothing changes.
I think it is important to take these opportunities that present themselves, big or small to try and get the word out.
Thanks, Ann

Another thing I was thinking about i when in the past people would ask me, "What is Lyme disease?"
I really didn't even know what to say. I didn't know how to describe it and I regret that.
I lost the opportunity to educate alot of people over the years.
Wondering how people on here describe it when asked? I hate downplaying it and the fact that it is so downplayed. I think a little hysteria wouldn't hurt...I'm exaggerating but something needs to change.

Hi, I was wondering if you could mention at the end of one of the shows how to properly remove a tick and to mention for more information to have people visit http://www.lymenet.org/.
As a Lyme disease sufferer who's life has been devastated due to the disease, the show was very disturbing to watch. Thank for any help you can provide in educating others about this disease.

i just replied; believe i was the 5th reply now! i rated the top one 5 stars!! others didn't have rating system on them!!
Lyme disease is nothing to laugh at; it's to be taken DEAD SERIOUS! I was bitten by a tick at Christmas time 1969; I never saw the tick nor did I have a bulls-eye rash! I kept a journal since age 13 that I used to track back what I was doing when I got terribly sick. It was typical SUB-ZERO weather in Iowa; my roommates and I had NO PETS; I wasn't a gardener then, and no walking under trees where they could FALL on you. So it was my folk's live christmas tree with a tick on that got me! This single tick has debilitated me for the last 39 years! 34.5 yrs. MISDIAGNOSED by 40-50 drs!! This tick's spirchete attacks our brains, lungs, heart, and kidneys the worst! It hides everywhere in every small space there is. Please show the symptoms of LYME DISEASE and it's co-infections on your show. This info can be found at this site: http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/
An outstanding SUPPORT/educational lyme board is at: www.lymenet.org
Thanks for your consideration as we have had many children DIE FROM CHRONIC LYME! Lyme knows no ages; no state lines; no religious or color boundries! WE ARE ALL GAME FOR IT!

What state does this family live in?
I tried to find at their site but did not see it.
My guess it's one of the states where the medical board has declared "no lyme" and has done zero to educate the residents of that state in how to prevent it.

Another thing about Jon and Kate plus 8 is that in one of the episodes where they are moving into their new house, there was a scene where the mom said that they are giving one of the daughters, I think it was Hannah, the one with the really long hair, her own room because she doesn't like being around lots of noise, and sleeps in really late.
I was like, hmmmm.......
The mom kind of made it sound like the little girl has health problems, and so had to have her own room for sleeping. The first thing I thought of was, wow, that sounds like me!
I guess she doesn't like light and noise or something, and needs to sleep in late for her health. Hmmmm. And they live in PA, which is where I got bit.

emh2l, - regarding "Little People":
Ah, Oregon. I thought so.
This is one of the worst states.
Not one LLMD here and last summer, two little girls with bulls eye rashes were told by their pediatrician that "there is no lyme in Oregon."
The Oregon Lyme Disease Network works hard to educate the public, but you'll find absolutely no education campaign from the medical field - but exactly the opposite: denial.
The Lyme Disease Network is a non-profit organization funded by individual donations. If you would like to support the Network and the LymeNet system of Web services, please send your donations to:
