My Father was bitten 3 days ago.He just told me.

He has had lyme in the past.

Local docs won't prescribe correct dosage.

Three of us in my family are or have been treated and I have extra doxy.

His duck is away till tomorrow. What is the current dosage and amount of time recommended to treat an adult?

Thank you!!!
Karen

I would want at least 400mg twice a day for 6-8 wks, esp with prior history.

Hope this helps!!

expanding on tutu's comments: 200 am and 200 pm ... 12 hours apart daily!!

that's what my pharmacy handout said; equal dosages 12 hrs. apart; good luck!

ILAD's guidelines - 300-400 mg doxycycline.
http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/treatment_guidelines_clearing_ilads.html

I think most ppl get 200 mg 2X per day. 400 mg 2X per day would be too much and suspect it was a typo on tutu's part.

I'd keep a really close eye on him for co-infections.

I hope he is not infected.

If you end up needing more doxy, I've ordered from here in the past and it took about two weeks:
