Perhaps you can try to find a post with Tincup's address on it. She has had a lot of issues and some with her eyes.

Does your son see an optometrist or an ophthamologist?
I know an ophthamologist would know more about eye diseases than just an optometrist.
I have seen both for my eye issues,, and neither has found anything.
Have you tried posting over on Seeking a Doctor to find a LL eye doctor?

I was thoroughly tested by a neuro-opthalmologist and his tests could not find anything wrong with my eyes, even tho he had to anesthetize my eyes for me to be able to look at light.
What saved my eyes was drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant juice. There are threads here on it that you can do a search for.
Within 24 hours of trying it, my eye symptoms had almost disappeared. I still have a little light sensitivity left, but nothing like what it used to be.
I drink the Ultra brand with 70 minerals added. There are lots of brands out there sold in healthfood stores, online and the strongest, Xango, multi-level.
If your son were to try it, go very slow with it, and drink a lot of water too.

Can you ask your LLMD for a suggestion? Or someone at the local lyme support group.

Not about lyme, but some great stuff here about eye health:
