I fugure someone here might have some insight...

Since being dx'd with Lyme it has been mentioned that my sons extreme prematurity could have been due to my Lyme. I know Lyme can cause miscarriage, fetal death etc...

So I am assuming it could be the cause of my son's birth? It was pretty spontaneous with no explanation. Was not in preterm labor, nothing like that. I just dialted and he was born. Almost as if my body kicked him out!

This BTW was 2 years ago and with the exception of some minor issues he thankfully is doing OK now.

I would love to post his blog site here for some to go to and see some of the things we've gine through over the years and see if people think Lyme, but not sure if thats ok to do? maybe Bettyg or a moderator can give me their input?

It is a public blog so anyone get access it anyway, but I don't want to over step here.

Thanks

It is a definite possibility.

Have you thought about getting him tested for Lyme?

I asked his pedi and she reluctantly gave him an ELISA.... She is a sceptic of Lyme,

Anyway that of course came back negative so she says he's clear.... We all know that test means nothing.

I will push the issue again, but have just been too sick lately.

Thanks Geneal!

only can tell you info passed from my LLMD, I

have 3 boys and didnt get dx til this yr, one

taking my ob hx we advised we get kids tested

as there are some of s/s in our kids and that

includes for me preterm birth, but i did have

preterm labor with all 3..also resp. distress at

birth, as well as the other /s/s in newbie pkg

with the 1st one we thought was a fluke bc i

origanally was having twins, then miscarried just

one at 8 wk, then we he was early we all just

thought that was why (dr gave us 20% survial at

8 wks with my oldest), then with #2 started pre-

term labor at like 26 wk i think. they we

thought we were done, and along comes #3 (after

bad misscarriage) and had preterm labor at 5th

mo. and was bedrest, iv terbulatine, fetal

home monitoring,e tc as he made it to 36 wk, LLMD

thinks this for us-- is worrisome that the kids

may have congenital lyme. there is dr training

for pedi now in tx, so going to try that

othrewise we are looking at way out of state dr

on all 3. low apgar at birth is also a sign.

LLMD says if kids are prone to colic, resp.

infec., delayed milestone, add/adhd in older

and choose sedintary activities, says these kids

are born with pain/ joint issues so they do not

know any different- this is their normal. so they

will not be run around active, sports, etc.

thankfully- none of our boys are sedintary and

are VERY active- so praying very much they do

not have this- but then we do have one with add.

2 were colic, and 2 of mine are very resp. sensitive

There is a published paper called: "A Family

Doctors Perspective on Tick-Borne Diseases in

Children" by Ann F. Carson he gave us. there

is not a lot publised on congenital lyme. this

article is a cross study of congenital and hx

of tick bite. very informative and lots of symp

in kids persent as psychiatric, maybe that

would help??? best wishes from one mom to another

My sister does not have Lyme. Her 4th baby was born at 24 1/2 weeks. Her daughter is doing great.

I don't remember when you got sick. The stresses that come with a premature baby could make it much worse.

I'm happy to hear you son is doing well. I would read his blog. You could post a link.

I had 2 children while I was ill and misdiagnosed as ME/CFIDS/FMS. Both were born 5 weeks premature and exactly 2 days before a full moon.

I was diagnosed as having an irritable uterus and weak cervix with the first one. I had only been ill for a few months time but there were many problems.

The second child was born 5 years into my illness and the pregnancy was filled with problems - near miscarriage, dilated cervix at 5 months and total bed rest, then hospitalized when at 7 months gestation.

Both have had life long problems right from birth.

Wishing you well.

hi erika!

good question! about your blog on your son, etc.; my 1st reaction is this: have you thought about adding the blog site as your SIGNATURE LINE like many folks here??

in signature line you can mention also about your son being a premie born at 24 wks. to draw their attention to your son's story?

i've just started reading PJ LANGHOFF'S 3rd book in series of 3, THE BAKER'S DOZEN; lunatic fridge ... garbage science, etc. in it, she might address that, and i'll try to remember you on this because she has over 1,000 LINKS to IDSA links where they have come up with this and that.

her book is providing evidence on many things where they idsa states this or that; she has found links disputing these things, and leaves it to reader what they feel is answer!

526 pages! into 100 pages of it so far; extremely SMALL print and long, solid block paragraphs making it a HUGE challenge to this 39 yr. neuro patient!!

how does my suggestion sound to you? this way EACH POST/REPLY shows your info and it doesn't get buried anywhere. xox

Thanks Betty! [Smile]

That sounds great, I didn't even think of that! I will change my signature.

Good luck on reading that book, I am NOT a reader at all, so I give you LOTS of credit for attempting it espcially with your nero problems!

Thanks everyone!
