I took Flagyl and Zithromax for 9 months, plus Diflucan once a week.

If I decide to return to LLMD, I'm afraid he'll suggest IV abx.

Will they prescribe that for only mild symptoms and for someone who responded very well the first time around with orals?

I would never go to IVs unless you are unable to take orals due to stomach issues or other reasons.

It takes most people on the average 1 to 4 years to get well.

Possibly, depends on the LLMD I think. Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) is the most commonly used IV abx, but it sounds like you have not been on any oral cell wall abx, and there are plenty to try.

The only reason my daughter is starting IV antibiotics is that she cannot tolerate oral meds any more. They ruined her stomach.

Her doctor would have tried a different antibiotic, but she is done with the pill form. You never really know how much your body is absorbing from the pill form. With the IV, you know exactly how much is put in your body. Then you have to pray that the particular IV med you are using is going to work.

Of course, IM Bicillin is another option out there and works as well as IV for some.
