I am debating on whether or not to buy a portable tent type far infrared sauna. I have POTS and other palps and take a beta blocker for these. I know it says on some of the sauna sites that a suana may not be ideal for someone like me, but I have MCS and cannot tolerate most supplements and meds and need to detox some of these toxins out of me...Anyone else have these issues and are you able to tolerate a far sauna or did it trigger your heart to go wacky? I know we are all different, but just looking for other's experiences. Thanks

i have this, from autonomic system gone haywire.
not on beta blockers, long story but cardio thought it was "cool" i had lyme, had bad reasearch from 2-3 yrs ago about friend and his outlook was- well, ur on doxy so no worries! u will be all better from lyme and RMSF in one mo of tx!! isnt that great news! no need for further workup, just take ur doxy and heart will be fine in one month---- lets see, that was now 4 mo ago???
but, i use hot tub, reg. sauna and eucolyptus steam room as well, and have been ok to tolerate in short duration., also use hot baths at home with number on things as well.
seems like the overdoing it, and increased mucle pain makes my heart stuff worse, also laying on side.

I have palps and Tachy and use the tent FIR sauna. There are several studies on FIR and heart patients.
All did well with FIR as opposed to traditional sauna. AS a matter of fact, heart function improved in many patients after using FIR. This is documented in SHERRY ROGERS book DETOX OR DIE. All information was peer reviewed and documented.

PS there was careful fluid intake and mineral replacement as well. I recommend that you get the book from Amazon.

I think the name of the Sherry Rogers book is Detoxify or Die, not Detox or Die....I tried looking it up on Amazon and couldn't find anything with the latter.

Right, just looked at my copy: Detoxify or Die
Sherry A. Rogers M.D. this is the best detox book that I have come by. It is very thourough with a concrete plan and referenced to the hilt.

There is a whole chapter devoted to FIR sauna and the proper way to use it as a detoxifier.

My LLND recommended an infrared floor mat, called VITAMAT. It has jade and geranium flat stones as part of its technology. I don't know much about it, but they are supposed to be healing stones and conductor stones for infrared heat. The VitaMat is featured on DrK's website, biotoolsforwellness.com, but can be found on several sites online.
Since I am not detoxing well (methylation block) my hubby bought a VITAMAT. At $835 it was much cheaper than a fullsize sauna and takes up much less space. It tri-folds and can fit under the bed.
I haven't used it long enough to say about it. I have severe muscle pain, requiring a special mattress to sleep on so being on the floor is not comfortable for me. Tried it on the bed, and that was not comfortable either. Then, I got the idea to try it on a twin size self-inflatting air mattress (Walmart). I don't fully inflate the mattress and that helps.
There is also a BIOMAT infrared that uses amethyst healing stones, $1,700 (twin size). It looks like it might be more comfortable, but my LLND recommended the VITAMAT based on DrK's recommendations for those with lyme.
I asked her if the Mat was as effective as a fullsize sauna, and she said yes based on its technology. She especially prefers it because it has EMF protection technology.
Maybe if I did not have EMF problems (through ART testing) she would have recommended something different, don't know. Not sure what she meant by that, but I am thinking she means the jade/geranium stones.
I can feel a very slight tingling when I lay on it, and the first time or two I felt a little woozy.

Also, the Sherry Rogers, M.D. book references Mayo Clinic studies showing benefit of infrared with fragile cardiac patients who are too sick to tolerate other treatments. And, that neonatal units use infrared in incubators for premature babies to improve their survival rates.
I have heart problems with mitral valve prolapse and have been on beta blockers for 3 decades. It will be interesting to see if symptoms improve with the infrared mat.

thanks for all the replies. I will get the book recommended and check out the rest of your suggestions. I will just go slow and monitor my heart as i go along in the sauna.
