As I understand it, the test does not show how bad a case of lyme disease a person has. Rather, it shows how much of a defense the body has mounted against the lyme bacteria.

The test is looking for lyme antibodies that have been made by your body in response to the lyme bacteria.

With all your positives and indefinites (weak positives), your body is definitely mounting a defense against lyme.

You have more positives than I had. However, my Igenex test was done after I was treated for lyme disease for 2 whole years.

My doc treated the indefinites as positives. I believe I had 3.

The sickest lyme patients often don't have any positives. Their immune systems are totally fooled and don't even recognize that lyme is in the body. So, their test finds no antibodies to lyme at all.

I think it is a good sign when the immune system is recognizing and fighting the lyme. With antibiotics helping it, your body should win the battle.

I agree with TF. It looks like your body is putting up a fight.

I only had one band positive and have been extremely ill for 3 years.

A sinus infection will not cause you to make antibodies on species specific bands on a western blot for lyme.

Bands 31, 34 and 39 on your results are species specific to borrelia burgdorferi(lyme).

My LLMD says that an IND result on a species specific band is like a fingerprint...it doesn't matter how dark the fingerprint is...it's still the same fingerprint (still positive, even if it wasn't dark).

Do you already have an LLMD?

no i am in the process of getting that appointment i was waiting for my results to see if i was crazy or not.

well i guess i was right! so what you are saying it look like my body is putting up a fight because of the results..
I was glad to hear that a sinus infection would not effect the test. i did just get done a round of abx (levquin ) 3 weeks prior to test i don't know if that helped.

so then i should have any problem getting treated right?

will they all finally believe me?????

and the IND is still pos that's interesting..

thanks for the info

You won't have any trouble getting treated by an LLMD .. other doctors... doubtful.

Yes, IND is a weak positive.

Like Lymetoo said, you won't have any trouble getting treated by a LLMD. Even if your test was negative, a LLMD would diagnose you clinically and not by test results.

No other doctors will treat LD effectively. They will give you 2 to 4 weeks of antibiotics and say you are cured. That is why you must go to a LLMD.
