Well good luck, It's kind of uncomfortable. I've had 2 in the past. Both weren't very comfortable.

I don't want to scare you but can't dance around with flowery words right now.
I don't know if this has changed since I had one in my arms about 20 years ago - I hope so. But they put long needles into my arms.
These were not fine acupuncture needles at all. Very painful. I will never have one done again.
So, ask BEFORE they begin what the procedure is. You can refuse it or stop at any point if you want to or need to. Remember you are paying them.
Hopefully, this has become more humane. Quite frankly, I don't know why they just did not listen to me. I had pain. They did not need to torture me to find that out.

I had one done on my arms and am getting another next tuesday on my legs. I was so nervous I almost fainted jsut waiting for the test. But once it got started it wasn't that bad. I'm not even nervous about my upcoming test.
They do use long needles but my neurologist said they are skinnier than the ones they used to use. And when they shock you, it isn't fun but it isn't terribly painful either. But I know everyone is different!
The best part of the test for me was that it was the first test that actually DID show nerve and muscle damage. Finally a test that showed something was wrong!
Good luck on your test and let us know how it goes!
