If you have an (IgM) CDC pos. lyme test, plus positive Babisia, Bartonella and Ehrlichiosis tests, will insurance companies take your illness more seriously? I mean as far as realizing how sick you really are and your need for ongoing abx and treatment?
I am hoping the fact that my tests show positive for four tick borne illnesses that no one will be able to dispute how ill I am. Any comments/advise appreciated.

I think it depends on your insurance company but my impression is that if you have a positive test, they will at least allow treatment via the IDSA guidelines which would include some IV abx.
I think many but not all insurance companies will fight against long term IV and use the IDSA guidelines to back themselves up.
Likewise, I think you would at least be allowed standard treatment for all of your infections.
AliG was recently looking for info on polymicrobial infections so you might want to touch bases with her. Her info might prove useful because you have so many positive tests.
Glad you've got the tests to back up your treatment. At least treatment will be easier to begin with and hopefully for as long as you need it. Terry

Thanks Terry. And I know the answer to this, but there's no way these (Igenex) tests could all be wrong, is there? The Babisia was the FISH as well as the antibodies.
Thx.

Any lab could make an error but I can't imagine all of those tests being in error, especially from a lab that specializes in TBI's like IgeneX.
If you have Kaiser or an HMO, they may want to run tests through their own choice of labs. Kaiser plays dirty from what I've heard by sending blood clear across the country, sometimes taking weeks for the blood to get there. Plenty of time to get old and not give accurate results.
Hopefully you will get others coming along with their experiences.

Thanks Terry. A couple of the titers were high, so I would imagine they are not in error. I guess it is just hard to come to grips with such a bucket of "tick soup".
Thanks again, Amy
