I've been taking 300mg doxy for about 7 weeks, amoxicilin for about 2 weeks, and got a diagnosis for Bartonella last week, and started 500mg Levaquin in place of the doxy two nights ago.

After taking the second pill last night, about an hour later I started having burning pain all over, and muscle sorness. About three hours after, the pain became almost unbearable and became extremely depressed-suicidal.

I'm on ultracet daily for pain, but it was doing nothing for how I was feeling, hard to describe the type of pain though, but it felt like I had gone to hell almost, like I was in a ball of fire on the inside of my body or like acid had taken the place of my blood.....

I've read that a lot when starting to treat bart have a rough time, but is this a bad reaction to the medication rather than effects of the bart dieing off???

I'm planning on stopping the Levaquin for now, but I don't have a phone atm to talk to my doctor and only internet access.

I woke up barely able to move but soaked in the tub for a while and took a back up vicodin I keep around so I am functional now, but my muscles feel very sore all over. Is there anything I need to do??

Please help, I don't have any family or anybody around and no phone. Not sure if I need to do anything other than stopping the med or what.

I just started levaquin too. I aM AT ONLY 1/2 Of 500 mg tab and having problems.

My doctor said that I would hurt like hell-0 but I haven't. He said that those who can get past the first week of pain usually do well.

That being said, I do feel extremely lethargic and out of it. After 5 days I had a 3 day migraine from the depths of hell. I stopped for 3 days and am now on my 2nd day again at 1/2 dose.

This is a tough med to tolerate. Do your tendons hurt? If so try not to be active and do not take anymore levaquin.

I wish that you were able to speak to your doctor because that is what is really needed.

Best to you and I hope that all you are going through soon settles down.

Just wanted to add my two cents worth. I started on Levaquin a month ago and had to stop after only one month b/c I was in so much pain. My body ached in such a different way I couldn't even describe it. My LLMD took me off Levaquin and within 2 days I felt much better. She changed me over to Rifampin and I am doing fine with this now. Herxed after a week on it but that is to be expected.

Good luck

Oh, and I have heard that magnesium and
Vitamin C may help with symptoms.

Google it!!!!

I found that the quinolones [levaquin, cipro, etc] cause me nerve pain. It can become permanent pain. So proceed with caution.

After a reaction like that, I'd get off of any quinolone (like Levaquin) ASAP. From what I've read and heard from other patients, I've gathered that all of the drugs in that family are capable of causing severe multisystemic degeneration.
