Hi everyone,
I am trying to help a friend who I also believe has lyme and coinfections.
She had a WBC of 2.0 norm(4.1-10.9) RBC of 3.49 norm (4.2-6.3) Platelets 134 norm (140-440)
I remember reading in an article/study that lyme can cause low WBC.
I saw in Dr B's info that low WBC's are found with ehrlichia. What has been your experience?
I was trying to remember where else I read this.
Does anyone know what article/study this info is in???
Thanks!!!!

Thanks Amanda!
Glad to hear your counts improved with the doubled dose.

My WBC count has been chronically low now for over six years (and it's NOT due to antibiotics because my WBC were low back when I was on no medication whatsoever). I truthfully don't remember my WBC ever being in the normal range. They never go higher than 3.0 usually. The normal range for my WBC is usually between 2.0 - 3.0. And the normal ranges for a healthy person is 4.0 - 10.5.
We really haven't figured out what the cause of it is... but I have had a bone marrow biopsy and that came out normal.
My LLMD tells me that it's probably due to the lyme and or a co-infection I have and my immune system is having a very hard time with it. Though all my co-infection tests are negative... but co-infection treatment has helped me quite a bit, especially after starting Babesia treatment. I've noticed that shortly after starting Clindamycin (as well as Mepron with it) my white blood cells actually went up from 2.0 to 3.0 and have been at 3.0 the last two tests I've had done, let's hope it keeps going up to a nice, normal range. And my neutrophils which are always also low have gone up into the normal ranges, which is very interesting and quite shocking for me as they have been low for six years as well.

Needs Lots of Help - what about your total WBC count???
Though of course not everyone with Ehrlichia has a low white blood cell count. I've read that about half of patients with Ehrlichia show a LOW WBC count while the rest have a normal count.
