i'm taking 100 of diflucan for a yeast infection.

i need the replace the good bacteria so i'm taking theralac every day, along with 2 acidolphilis with each meal.

i have some critical care also but i'm just taking the theralac. should i take the two capsules daily too?

is this enough or do i need more?

how much should you take if you're taking antibiotics?

Hey Randi,

I would replenish often and I believe it may say "as needed" on some bottles. The more strains/cultures you take the more you replenish those good little guys that bit the dust!

I took renew life critical care at bed and others during the day 2-3 times, or maybe up to at least 100 billion cultures or more in a day. I also used theralac in between my larger doses.

It could also depend on how much abx you are taking. The more abx, the more your good bacteria is getting destroyed on a regular basis. Its also helpful to rotate probiotics too. It seemed to be very effective for me.

When I took VSL#3, that was so potent at 225 billion cultures, I only needed one at bedtime.

Im not sure what brands you are taking, but the refrigerated kind need to be taken by themselves away from anything else in order to avoid the live cultures from being destroyed. Some also recommend being taken with food. It should be on the label.

What do you mean by "acidophilus"? Brand name?? Strength ?

One Theralac a day is good while not on abx, but with the extra acidophilus you may be OK.

didn't somebody on here awhile back said NOT to take acidolphilis as it causes some heart condition.

i was searching old posts and it's been a year or so but they definitely said don't take it.

geez, first you say you do, then you don't, then you say you will, and then you won't, so what are you gonna do??

I think VSL#3 combined with Theralac is good when first repopulating. Then after a month or so, go back to your cheaper brands, like Yarrow, etc. They work just fine when you've done the heavy work.

If I remember correctly, I think my doctor recommended about 100 billion cultures (mixed acidophilus and bifidus)per day. So, if you took 1 VSL#3 capsule you would meet that requirement easily, or you could do a couple Theralac, etc.

You should also take 2 S.Boulardii caps per day.

Wow, I just take 1 capsule of Florajen daily (20 billion acidolphilis only - no other strains) along with 1 Jarrow Brand S. Bourlari capsule (5 billion units).

When you finish the Diflucan, you can add Florastor (s. boulardii) but if you take it now the Diflucan will just kill it off. A pack or a 1/2 pack of VSL # 3 a day should be plenty.
