I am up to this point in my treatment and am having a hard time with it.

Metals block many of the enzymes and receptors that are needed for your body to function properly.
You will have symptoms (especially at the beginning) of detox when the metal load is higher.
Taking activated charcoal on an empty stomach (about 2 hours away from any meds, etc) can help mop up some of the toxins.

Patients who are ill tend to accumulate heavy metals at a greater rate, we don't fully understand why (as far as I know).
Hoot covered how the metal interferes. Mercury and lead are especially dangerous and more common.

If we are not metal and other toxin toxic to begin with, the chances we would fall ill from Lyme are pretty small in my opinion. I think the toxins are more important than the infections in many cases.

My LLMD said my mercury level is borderline. I don't know what this means. Can anyone help?
He said he doesn't want to address it now as there are too many other things to work on.
If it's just borderline is it even necessary to treat? I am really in over my head with this one.

I had a hair analysis done (not by my LLMD) and all my metal levels were condsidered "normal"
Now I've heard that testing for metals (esp via hair) isn't accurate anyway
Also, based on my detox response metals are obviously an issue
We are going very slowly, so I have to be careful to keep it slow - otherwise I am getting a lot of neuro symptoms
increasing my chlorella is helping
leelee - I don't have an answer...this whole when and how to detox metals seems pretty controversial from what I'm gathering. If not done properly they just redistribute in your body and wreak even more havok!

I don't think the testing is very accurate. I had 3 tests done & it was always very low for me. I do think I have toxins... I'm not sure if it just mercury. It could be a whole host of things.
I posted a study about a week or so ago about use of abx in regards to mercury excretion. Seems that abx change the bacteria in the gut which are responsible to excreting mercury...
While on abx, it isn't secreted from the body as quickly. So, this may contribute to why mercury may be bad in regards to Lyme.
I'm sure there's alot of info from Dr. K in WA about this subject if you do a search. I know he's a staunch supporter of the dangers of mercury.
