Folks, I start I.V. rocephin this Monday. My schedule will be 2 pushes per day, 4 days on, 3

days off. I'll be doing Urso (my gallbladder has already been removed) and Flagyl as well.

Right now I'm doing 5 days of pre de-yeasting with Diflucan and using a mouth rise of Nystatin.

What kind of quality of life can I expect out of the IV ? I'll be fitted with a peripheral line

that will be in me 4 days, out of me 3. How hard will it be to infuse myself? I'm too far out from the

city to commute in. (I'm married, and my wife works at home.)I'm in fair health right now. Major

fatigue, and come light
balance problems are my primary problems.

I'm also concerned about skin rashes. I have some
now...will the new meds make things worse? What

can I use to stop the itching?

I went to the lymefriends site Tracy9, but quite simply it requires giving up FAR too much personal

and private information, including a photo. Please do understand that these are those of us working in

sensitive positions that require a tad more privacy to maintain our current employment.

Thank you, but I will respectfully decline for now.

I think that you will like the short line. I preferred it over a PICC line. You will get to be "free" for 3 days....that is nice!

I just ended a stint with the same set-up as you are having.

No one can predict whether or not you will experience more rashes, I can only say for me, there were times that I experienced some itching and a patchy rash.

I took benadryl and it was gone in the morning. Obviously, if you experience something more severe you need to react differently.

I assume Dr. rx'ed an epi pen? Infusing is easy. It is convienient with the "ball" that your doc rx'es....you will not be attached to a pole.

Just remember to keep it dry and clean.

I did have one instance when I had to pull my line because I had infiltration. Medication was going into skin because line had moved out of the vein....no biggy.

Just stop the infusion, pull the line, and have the nurse insert a new one.

You will do fine. Feel free to Pm me w/ anything else.

Feelfit

Are you going to have a home health nurse or a nurse come out for the infusion company? I had a nurse come out to the house for the first dose. They show you how to do everything. and they are there for the first dose (i was also provided with an epi pen) in case there is an allergic reaction.

I have only had a picc line so i don't have any experence with comfort/care of other lines... but the actual infusing is easy. The most important thing when infusing is keep everything clean.

Just so you know at lyme friends you can just fill in n/a if there is info you dont want to fill in on your profile. Profiles can also be set so that only your friends can view them. And the pics can be anything. A flower, a sunset etc. My profile pic is of my cat [Smile] it doesnt have to be you.

Thanks, Feelfit.

I sincerely hope that you are doing well. It's supposed to be 102 degrees here in the Florida panhandle tomorrow. I hope that Michigan is a tad cooler than that!

Thanks, Azure wish. I'm scheduled to do my first couple of I.V.s at the local infusion center.

They told me that they'll train me to do everything so that I can do it myself. I'm kind of in the

"sticks with the ticks" location wise when it comes to nursing visits. The nearest town of any size is

more than an hour away.
