I went to my LLMD because my heart has been hurting. It pinches when I lean forward, walk too fast or talk too much. It has also been beating really hard while I'm sitting still, as if I'm jogging. Then I get a little out of breath.
I had a very very slight heart murmur for the past couple of years, even a month ago it was hard to hear, but this time my LLMD said it was very loud. My blood pressure and pulse are fine.
EKG was fine and so was the echocardiogram that I had done the same day. My heart was pinching and beating really hard during the echo but not the EKG. Cardiologist said everything was fine.
So, I'm wondering if Lyme can cause my very slight heart murmur to get a lot worse so quickly. Is it causing that much deterioration??? I'm only 23 and shouldn't be having heart problems Posts: 236 | From Washington | Registered: Jul 2008

Thank you Marnie. I should have said that I am taking magnesium and a multi-B vitamin every day. I've been doing that for the past 3 years, I think at 1000 mg of magnesium?
That's another reason it's so concerning to me. I've read that magnesium is needed, but my heart is only getting worse. Maybe I need more?

wow, i'm so sorry to hear this at 23!!
dad had mitral valve prolapse. he was NEVER diagnosed with lyme disease, but i now know he had this for 80 years!!
he had 2 aortic valve pig replacements; mitral should have been replaced but they didn't since they said IF they dropped that valve during his surgery, it would fall into his heart and kill him; so they left that and replaced the aortic twice.
1st one was good for 10 yrs.; 2nd lasted 4 yrs.
don't mean to scare you...just giving you examples of things, but you are WAY TO YOUNG for all this BS going on. best wishes soleil ...

A major problem is we don't absorb much if we take it orally. And B6 works with Mg.
Our stomach acids destroy B6 so this must be sublingual (Source Naturals makes this).
You can get MgCl over the internet. It is not cheap. It comes as a liquid.
You can dilute it in some distilled water and simply spray it on your skin.
We DO absorb things thru our skin.
In a "perfect world" you should be on IV abx followed by IV MgCl on several subsequent days.
IMO based primarily on the 2 abstracts I have recently re-posted (Romania cure)...
This country will not "fess up" to the fact that a simple and cheap electrolyte is needed to fight some dangerous infections IN CONJUNCTION WITH others therapies (abx/electromagnetic).

Betty, thanks for telling me about your dad. That kind of situation is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I'm glad they didn't try to replace the mitral- that would be too scary to worry about something so very delicate!
Marnie, thank you, I didn't know that B6 must be sublingual. I'll try that. I'll also try the MgCl. I've been taking whatever oral Mg you can get at the pharmacy for cheap. But I'm willing to spend some money on this because it's my heart! Too important to let doctor's tell me it will be ok...
I am on IV Rocephin, 2 grams/ day, so maybe trying the Mg and B6 in their correct forms will help this. Thank you so much for your help and research. I've seen lots of your other posts and greatly appreciate what you bring to the board!

How long have you been on IV Rocephin? I too am on 2gm of IV Rocephin daily and also have Mitro Valve Prolapse. When first starting the Rocephin, my heart rate did increase but not over 100 beats per minute.
It was concerning to me, but after about 2 weeks on the Rocephin, it seemed to simmer down a bit. Maybe I need to add Magnesium too.

I started it January 29, so just over 3 months now. I didn't notice a problem with this until a month ago, so I didn't know if it was Rocephin, or maybe the PICC line poking or irritating my heart (the nurse said this could happen if it was put in too far, but the imaging showed it was not).
I guess that overall I am really worried that my heart is deteriorating- that my treatment isn't aggressive enough and the Lyme is just loving my heart. I don't know if that's even possible, but it really worries me that I'm still getting worse even on IV!

It does make a difference which type of Magnesium you take.
I thought they were all the same until I read a post here.
I was taking powdered Magnesium Oxide because it was super cheap.
The type to take should be Magnesium in the form of a Gluconate, Citrate, Ascorbate and I think there's another form but I can't remember what it is.
I take Peter Gillham's Natural Calm plus Calcium in powdered form and just mix it with water.
Magnesium helps me with the chest pains I have off and on and cramps in my lower legs.

Mg oxide = frequent trips to the BR (that's not bedroom). Yea, the cheapest and easiest to find.
But the original "Universal Remedy was: Mg oxide, tannic acid (a very strong acid) and activated charcoal) until "they" decided there wasn't enough "room" in the Merck manual to continue to mention it.
The first 2 -> hydrogen. Raise the pH.
The 3rd soaks up toxins.
Mg malate (Mg+ malic acid) malic acid removes Al... Alzheimer's implications...the body is trying to substitute another mineral.
Mg gluconate is the easiest on the stomach.
MgCl does look to be the form we need for lyme which is triggering the opening of chloride channels because Bb needs NaCl for motility and Bb is metabolizing glutamate -> GABA A and GABA C which are chloride - fast inhibition - channels.
As evidenced by the fact that Frontline, to PREVENT lyme in DOGS, blocks the chloride channels.
We aren't going to block that channel, but instead send in MgCl to displace Na.
It will take a lot of Mg to do that because Na (and Ca) are more "reactive" than Mg is.
The minerals react with acids to produce hydrogen and they do this in an order.
Li, K, Na, Ca, Mg....
The first 2 are too dangerous to fool with though Bb does not like KCL.
