Would like to know if people here feel better when NOT treating lyme and co's? When you travel do you go off or stay on meds?

I generally feel worse, cognitively mostly, when on massive amounts of meds and am considering a break to travel and be more functional.

My only concern is babesia getting worse off anti-malarials. Does anyone know how long can one stay off babs meds safely?

It's been 10 + months of isolation and I'd like to feel confident enough to get on a plane and have a little fun.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thxs

depends which ab - for example: rocephin = better when on it, minocyclin = better when off (but i still take it).

I am much better off treatment. If I go anywhere or have any event or have to be somewhere. Even my doctors sometimes.
I stop treatment.

Depending on the 1/2 life of the meds is what helps me determine how long i have to be off it to get some relief.

But after that I have taken off a a week up to 3 weeks at a time.
I have had no choice sometimes when such as a family emergency has come up or I just need a break or I want to travel. But it has been a crap shoot because even off sometimes if I am flaring it can still be difficult.

BUt for sure.. off is much much better for me and that goes for all abx treatments I have been on. And I have been on most of them.

I hope you are taking a break.. and have some time to enjoy yourself. We all are missing out on that in our lives most of the time. Good Luck.

One time my LLMD wanted me to take a week off meds so we could figure out my GI problems. He told me that as soon as I had the slightest babs symptom to start the Mepron and Biaxin, but not the other meds I was on at the time (I was on a ton of stuff). I lasted only a few days off the Mepron/Biaxin, but stayed off the other stuff for a full week as he wanted me to. I did feel better.

It takes me about 6 weeks off to start feeling worse ... or it did, back when I was on abx.

Thanks all for your thoughts.
Steven, I wish I could get my hands on some rocephin!

Spring Showers, thank you this helps make my decision easier.

Six, I defintely will head your advice and start back on mepron/b if I feel any babs sx.

Randi,
Sorry you can't go off! I have heard some people immediately relapse after going off abx...but I can't tell the difference cause I feel like crap whether on or off.

maybe I haven't given it enough time.

Thxs again

I feel better off abx for a week but worse after two weeks. Adding chelex to the abx is a real "knock-down" for me.
