I so want to find an affordable way to do this therapy. Years ago I had a great response but I was so down at that time nothing I did really sustained. Also expensive. I am not feeling ready to return to it but more broke than ever.

Hmmm... since the human flesh/body is essentially opaque to U.V. radiation & only somewhat translucent to I.R. frequencies (hold your hands up to a bright, projected light), I fail to see how U.V. light could do any more than heat [& even Burn] the outer epidermial layer.
Any B.B., of any known form, wouldn't even sense UV light projected onto the body, if they were deep inside collagenous tissue or nerve bundles.
It might help produce Vit D though! & we're often deficient in That stuff...

Rationale and Method of Treatment
The Knott technique of blood irradiation (approved by the American Blood Irradiation Society) achieves the following physiologic objectives:
The treatment consists of withdrawing blood from the patient and by use of the Knott hemo-irradiator, exposing it to radiant energy between the wave lengths of 2,399 and 3,900 angstrom units as it passes through the irradiation unit at a predetermined rate. The blood is returned to the patient through the needle used for the initial venipuncture (IV). The entire system is ``closed'' meaning the patient's blood never leaves the tubing or the bottle and is simply returned back into the vein after passing through the UV device. Treatment requires 15-60 minutes depending on the amount of blood treated and how fast the blood flows. After the treatment, 15 minutes of rest is required, after which time the patient may resume whatever activity is permitted by his or her Woodlands Healing Research Center physician.
Has Anyone else done this Therapy? I really loved it but ran out of money to do it to more and or enough to maybe break through or sustain the positive results I was getting. I will never forget how I felt... Wonderful.!

Photo-oxidation therapy is also known as Photoluminescence, Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVB)
Photo-oxidation therapy is also known as Photoluminescence, Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVB), and Extracorporeal Photophoresis. A photo-oxidation (UVB Therapy) treatment consists of the insertion of a needle into a vein and the withdrawal of 60 or more cc's of blood that is passed through tubing where it is exposed to an ultraviolet (UV Ultraviolet "C" Light) light briefly.
The treated blood is then directly returned to the patient's bloodstream. The only discomfort is during the insertion of the needle and is minimal. The effects are long lasting and there is an absence of harmful side effects. The simple treatments are easily combined with other medical procedures and are economical, dependable and gentle for the patient.
UVB Ultraviolet Therapy (Photo-oxidation therapy) is a biological healing modality utilizing ultraviolet irradiation of the blood (with UV Ultraviolet C light) to produce the following beneficial photochemical reactions:
Improved micro circulation and oxygenation of tissues. Anti-inflammatory effects Stimulation of the immune system Increased tolerance of the body towards radiation or chemotherapy. Cardiovascular protection through increased metabolism of cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose Resolution of vascular spasms Powerful anti-infection properties
Historically, photo-oxidation therapy was first administered to humans in 1928 in Germany when a woman dying of sepsis (a usually fatal bacterial infection of the blood) was cured in two days. Currently, when use and over-use of antibiotics has produced super-strains of bacteria resistant to more and more powerful (toxic) antibiotics, and new mutated strains of viruses are being identified every decade, photo-oxidation is needed more than ever.
Medical research from American and German sources, provides dozens of references on photo-oxidation. Those interested in further information can read Into The Light by William Campbell Douglas, Second Opinion Publishing, Inc, 1993 for original references.
Indications for photo-oxidation: When a patient has reached a plateau, photo- oxidation can often improve these patients further. Indications include: Infections of all types- (bacterial, viral, fungal, protozoa) toxic conditions of all types- snake bites or organic poisoning, injuries, wound healing, venous stasis ulcers, Raynaud's disease, migraine, acute flare ups of arthritic joints, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis pain, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, asthma, acne, herpes zoster, psoriasis, chronic intestinal inflammation, occlusion of arteries, (including stroke), thrombosis or increase in blood coagulability, thrombophlebitis, general detoxification.
Biological effects include: Increase in: arterial and venous oxygenation, blood pH, lymphocytes, electrical charge on the red blood cell, of bacteriocidal capacity of the blood, hemoglobin, white blood cell count, lymphocytes, phagocytosis ability; Reduction of : cholesterol, creatinine levels, blood lactate, clot formation tendencies, blood viscosity, uric acid levels, fibrin levels, plasma viscosity, surface tension of the blood; Normalization or modulation of: immune status, glucose tolerance , and fibrinolysis.
Frequency of treatment: Acute infectious situations typically will be treated with one treatment daily or every other day until improved or resolved. Chronic situations are treated on a variable schedule, but a typical pattern of treatment would be one treatment two times per week for three weeks, and then one treatment weekly for four weeks, then gradually moving towards one treatment every two months as maintenance. The treatments may take effect immediately and the benefits are apparent for up to 45 days.

You are essentially irradiating, thus damaging, a small portion of the blood. When re-infused this causes the immune system to go on high alert to clean up the damaged cells. Thus the immune system gets stimulated, and so infections can also be improved or treated. However, it works best for acute infections or viruses, imo. Plus there may be risks.

Have You tried this?
Does it take a certain amount of treatments to help and or ongoing maintenance to sustain?

Ahhh O.K. ZZZapping the blood up close with UV as it passes. Interesting... & plausible.
It does indeed sound risky though. (Possible blood coagulation, hurting too many healthy red cells, etc.)
Just what is this 'American Blood Irradiation Society' Who are they primarily made up of? People who "do" it... or people who've had it done?

I've read that some people do this via a UV light under the tongue for AIDS. I don't know how effective it is. I don't remember if it was a laser or LED.
One may also be able to do it with a laser so you don't have to remove the blood... I haven't done it but I think I may have read about it in passing.
It's called *laser* blood irradiation.
One person here mentioned about it a while back & said it didn't help them. Seems interesting in theory but how about all the pathogens in between the cells, in the spinal fluid, brain - not necessarily in the blood?

quote: It is common knowledge that, for many years, ultraviolet light has been used for disinfection. Exposing blood to ultraviolet light also kills bacteria, viruses and fungi in the blood that is exposed to UV light and when that UV irradiated blood is reintroduced into the body, a remarkable stimulation of the immune system and various enzyme systems occurs.
Although the complicated physiological action of how this occurs is not yet completely understood, it is well documented that the body's defenses are rapidly organized to destroy all invading, systemic pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and even yeasts like Candida albicans. It appears that by destroying the pathogens in the treated sample of blood, an autogenous (self-generated) vaccine is produced. There is also evidence that ultraviolet radiation continues to be given off by the treated blood after it is infused back into the body. This is referred to as induced secondary radiation, and it contributes to the rapid destruction of the pathogens in the blood. It has also been observed that UVBI inactivates toxins produced by bacteria and viruses.
I'm interested in finding a location nearby with a good practitioner. Is there a national registry for this type of treatment? Thanks in advance!

Ozone (IV, sauna, insufflation) appears to offer all the benefits without the apparent risks of damage to healthy cells (since singlet oxygen is a free radical used readily by our antibodies and neutrophils to destroy pathogens)
Also, for this therapy to work on patients that are relying largely on anaerobic metabolism (and thus have a significant viral/bacterial/fungal load), long-term use would likely be required. Going to a practitioner to get IVs become rather un-economical. Ozone steam sauna and insufflation can be done at home, and with some of the lifetime warranties on medical-grade ozonators, can be used preventatively after recovery.
This is based on my research of ozone. I have no financial ties with any Drs or companies promoting ozone. I do plan on doing ozone sauna + insufflation myself after lengthy consultations with Dr. Saul Pressman.
Please check out the ozone, HBOT, and singlet oxygen thread for more information

Hubby did 3 of these treatments back in 2002/2003 after he got sick but when his illness was still undiagnosed. Cost depends greatly on the doc -- anywhere from $125 - $500 per treatment.
Hubby definitely herxed from the treatments, but at that time he had had no antibiotics. I do agree that the treatments most likely work on viruses better than other types of infections.
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield would not pay on these experiemental treatments -- the only reason it would have been covered was for organ transplant patients who were in danger of rejecting organs. It may have also been covered for endocarditis or something similar but not 100% sure about that.
If I was looking for a doc who offered these treatments I would start calling ACAM docs.
