Hi,
Has anyone tried this product? It's LLMD recommended who told me that lyme causes metabolic upset causing weight gain and weight loss. I just ordered the product.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried it. It's by Life Extensions.

Hi imagine2,

I gave Integralean/Irvingia a whirl a couple of months ago. I was hoping it would help with both weight and CRP/inflammation (c-reactive protein).

It turned out to be a very stressful period for me for other reasons, so it was not the best time to be trying it. I hope to give it another go in the future.

Have not rechecked my CRP level to see if it helped for that either. Every time I have my CRP checked (standing order), my doc calls me and reads me the riot act, so I don't want to trigger that right now.

I hope you do well with it.

I was going to try this - I'd love to hear if it works for you

I lost close to 20 lbs of Lyme weight using Vermella Slim by nutramedix

Now I just have 10 lbs to go until I'm officially "thin"

It's funny - when I was heavier it was all my practioners talked about (ok exaggeration, but my weight gain came up frequently)

Now when I complain about the last 10 lbs
they are not so interested anymore!

This book is specific to lyme and other chronic stealth infections. If you are trying to loose weight, reading this first will be a huge help.

The author discusses the endocrine connection and effects of STRESS on a person with such infections.

You can read customer reviews and look inside the book at this link to its page at Amazon.

And, whatever plan you choose, eating good food frequently is very important to be sure to keep porphyrin levesl down. Fasting can make that much worse and cause damage to cells.

Beta carotene is very helpful.

Here's a weight loss question for those out there:

Since fat binds certain toxins, and since (some argue that) lyme bacteria produce toxins as well, I've wondered if my weight gain could be, in part, an adaptive response of my body trying to sequester these toxins. (I also know that it's a response of reduced mobility and impacted metabolism.)

Anyway, have those who've lost weight had to deal increased toxin mobility? And how? A few months after I first got sick (and started gaining weight mysteriously -- before I knew what was wrong), I started a weight loss program, was doing great on it, then suddenly got massively sick again. It could have simply been the relapsing nature of lyme, but sometimes I wonder if I suddenly had more toxins released into my system as fat stores were metabolized. This happened a second time about a year later (again, before my lyme diagnosis).

Any thoughts?

For right now, I'm focusing on simply feeling better and trying to let go of what size I am. I would happily stay a size 14 forever if I could just feel well again!! When I get down about my weight, I like to read this blog:

BTW -- the author of the blog is a potty mouth, so if 4-letter words bother you, I would skip this site!

Nutmeg, I'm also trying to target inflammation and weight. That's why I thought this might be a good option for me. Right now, am feeling like a "water balloon" and my thighs are swollen, red and painful.

Larkspur, you're an inspiration. Will let you know if integralean helps. How long did it take you to lose 20 lbs. on Vermella Slim? (Vermella is gonna' be Plan B) LOVE Cowden herbs. [Smile]

Keebler, you're a tower of information and ALWAYS so helpful to everyone. Thank you.

Good question, Kimwg. Will ask my dr. about that when I see him in a few weeks.

Hi imagine2,

Water balloon...ouch! Sounds very puffy and unpleasant. Have you tried lymphatic drainage massage, or some activities like rebounding to help move lymph fluids?

Extra weight can also elevate CRP levels, so it's a viscious cycle.

I think I will try the Integralean again, and also look into Vermella Slim, which I have not heard of before.

Good luck to us both!

Imagine-
Those thighs sound painful! I agree about moving the lymph system and making sure you are taking enough liver support. If I understand correctly when your liver gets overloaded the toxins go straight to fat cells (not saying you have fat thighs [Smile] - but I think most women have some fat in that area)

To answer your ? -
Well, I think I started the Vermella about a year ago - I'd say about 15 lbs in the first 6 months or so then it's been really slow...I took vermella until very recently. My LLMD just took me off of it.

Of course I am really strict on the "lyme diet" and exercise as much as I can, but despite this before the Vermella the weight wouldn't budge for a couple years! So the vermella definitely helped me (except for the last 10 pounds - it's s l o w [Smile]

Nutmeg,
I am currently "on the hunt" for a massage therapist certified in lymph drainage. I haven't been able to find one in our area yet but I do think that is really important. Will look into rebounding as well. Thanks for reminding me.

Larkspur,
"not saying you have fat thighs" cracked me up. I do have fat thighs but, last time I checked, fat's not supposed to hurt. [Big Grin] I agree, I'll bet those toxins have "set up camp" in my thighs.

Thank you both for your suggestions. [Smile]
