A light bulb went off in my head this afternoon and I think I might be taking my abx on the wrong schedule.

My LLMD said to take mino every other day and Zithromax on the days I don't take mino.

I don't remember him saying to take a day off from all abx, but something in the back of my head is telling me he might have said that. I don't why this question has crept into my brain.

I have only been on abx since mid-April, 2009.

Any thoughts? Should I be having a "resting" day from abx one day a week? Have I harmed myself by not doing that if I should have been?

My next appointment is not until the end of July and I would like to avoid calling and asking him yet ANOTHER question if I don't have to. [spinning smile]

Thanks.

I would call your Dr about that since we're all on slightly different protocol.

I'm on all of my meds every day, no breaks. I'm still in my first 6 weeks of treatment so that may be adjusted.

What would a one day break do? Is that a good thing to do?

Thank you, Sofi, for replying.

I am not sure if a one-day break is a good thing or not, and I don't even know why I think he might have told me to do that.

I will confess to having an exceptional amount of mental confusion today so that might explain my sudden, urgent concern over what might not even be an issue. [Eek!]

Maybe others will come along and help us "newer-to-Lyme" folks.

Thanks again for posting and I wish you success in your treatment.

Leelee, I was on Mino, Biaxin, and Plaquenil for awhile. My experience is different since my doctor did not pulse as yours is recommending.

Contact your doctor to clarify the dosing instructions. That is always best. We cannot assume to know what he has planned for you. He has you on this protocol for specific reasons.

Until you hear from him stick with what you've been doing. I'm not sure why he would want you to take time off the meds unless you were having a problem tolerating them.

I'm on the same protocol.

I take Mino Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and Zithromax Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

I skip Sundays.

This was suggested as I was getting confused what day to take which med.

It does help! I wrote M W F on the Mino bottle as an additional reminder.

For me personally, I wouldn't take a day off unless I was herxing REALLY hard.

From now on, ask your doc to write down any instructions he has for you. Don't leave the office without the written instructions.

Mine did that routinely. We know how lyme affects the brain, memory, etc. so that is the best way of avoiding questions or problems.

I took all of my antibiotics continuously, so this type of treatment is not familiar to me. Sorry.
