I have a teen daughter who was bit when she was 6yrs. old treated with 10 days of amoxillicin for a diagnosis of cellulitis. She was diagnosed with lyme 3 tyrs ago and has been getting antibiotics since. She started with azithromycin and mepron, which made her extremely tied. I also noted after 1 month of azithro & mepron that her toes were purplish dark almost gray=black. It looked like dead toxins. Her feet were swollen and these color changes would come and go. Sometimes her feet would be purplish, then turn yellow as if one gets a black and blue then while its healing turns yellow. I noticed that when she had these changes she was extremely tied. She was on azithro & mepron for over 1 1/2 yrs. She has been on IV rocephin for 5mos, then 5 mos of doxy then some more mos. of recephin untl gall bladder attack. She is currently on Ketek 800mg a day. Dr. J wanted her to go back on mepron since I told him she has more difficulty concentrating, has had irreg periods/bleeding issues and her feet which looked better have been having more episodes of the color changes. Teen doesn't want to resume mepron because it made her have diarrhea and nausea. I am very concerned about her to the point I have difficulty functioning because of the stress in handling a teen and illness. She doesn't want the meds to interfer with school. she has been able to return to school this year. She was out of school all last year. Psychologically school is very important to her. Another big factor is death in the family , close member. I believe family death due to lyme or co=infection. Family member was very irritatble, had yellow stained white shirts and heart codition which eventually killed family member.
Does anyone know if Ketek covers lyme, bartonella and babs or just limited to one infection. Also my teen is discouraged because doesn't feel making progress and seems like wants to quit.I have been reading about how difficult it is to treat babs. Am I able to have teen treated, show results and still have her functionable. Please help with your advise.

The dr said the ketek will hit bartonella and lyme... mepron.. babesia.. ketek has helped me..

My periods are also messed up.. I think its all part of the lyme.. Supposedly it will get better w/treatment

Welcome. And sorry, but I can't read the post due to my eyes. However, I see from the headline that purple feet are involved.

Be sure to ask about Raynauld's. that is a circulation and nervous system problem that can cause this in hands and feet.

There may be other things, of course, but Raynauld's should always be considered.

Good luck.

My teen has irregular periods , every two weeks for hte past two years. She has most likely had lyme most of her life.

No jcolor changes on her body...but has very cold extremeties during herxes.

Have tried neuroprocessor supplements to try to help balance her neurotransmitters. LLMD says that should help the cycles...hasn't yet.

Also we are trying the Allergie Immune drops from Germany. Have seen some successes with it, but hasn't helped the hormones yet, but we are hopeful.

good luck with treatment...I will post if we have any success with normalizing periods.

My daughter's feet are cold. They also sweat and before being diagnosed use to sweat so much that her flip flops would fall off. Her pediatrician recommended putting deordorant on her hands and feet which use to and still sweat profusely.

I believe Raynauld's is another disguise for lyme same as fibromyalgia.

I have been told the yellow stain or sweating may be bartonella or babs, not totally sure. Family member died of dilated cardiomyopathy.
I really think my daughter should be covered for babesia. She doesn't want to go on meds because of side effects with nausea and diarrhea. Anything help with these symptoms with anyone.

Did someone say they also treated similar symptoms with some kind of yeast meds. Any knowledge of yeast involvement?

Hezzer926, what did your LLMD say it was? Babesia? Bartonella? or something else?

My teen daughter was diagnosed with Raynauds, although her hands turned green and blue and honestly looked like a corpse. She was also diagnosed with migraines, irritable bowel, etc. All of this after two inadequate rounds of Lyme treatment. She was CDC positve three times.
Her LLMD thinks, and I agree, that she is only dealing with lyme. After 7 months on abx, her hands are no longer green, headaches almost gone stomach is fine. Fatigue is her only consistent remaining symptom.
Good luck
Kris

Joysie,

My daughter's appearance is similar. What antibiotics was she on to gradually reduce her symtoms? What were all her meds including herbs or vitamin supplements?
