When I first had the bite on my ankle, (December 2008) neither my doctor or myself had ever heard of lyme.

The bite & my ankle was badly swollen & infected and I was given 2000mg daily of Flucloxaillin for the infection, as it got worse very quickly the doctor added 2000mg daily of Penicillin VK. I took both these together for 2 weeks. After this it was still very inflamed but I could just about weight bear on my ankle.

6 months later & i've still got bad pain in that ankle & now also the knee. The bite turned into an ulcer and that took 4 months to heal. I now seem to be getting more & more lyme related symptoms.

I have had two negative tests. I have heard that previous abx can prevent a test showing as positive.

Also could this dose of abx made the lyme abx resistant.

I've contacted a LLMD and hope to see him asap, but the more I read up on lyme the more nervous i'm getting.

In theory, a round of antibiotics could have cleared the infection from the bloodstream but not the tissues. Consequently antibodies may have disappeared from the bloodstream. Borrelia burgdorferi is a stealth organism. Your LLMD will explain this better than I can.

My white blood cell count is also low. (1.7) not sure if this is lyme related or not.

When I see the LLMD im hoping to arrange an igenex test & see what that shows.

Thanks for info, I'm trying to gather as much knowledge as I can before I see the LLMD
