Our daughter can not ride more than 15 minutes in the car without motion sickness kicking in.

Most of the time there is no nausea, feels like the car is moving when it stops , and dizzy, lightheaded feeling while driving. Rocking sensation.

She just began treatment for Lyme and bartonella about a month ago. She was treated for the Lyme for about 8 weeks total last summer.

Anyone else experience this driving in the car, did it get better with treatment? She felt like this in car even before she started treatment.

She can not take dramine as she said it makes her head feel very weird.

Any input is most appreciated.

I have sometimes become dizzy, lightheaded while in the car.

When stopped at a light, with the traffic moving by in front of my eyes--it's the motion more than anything that set me off. I had to open & shut my eyes to bear it & watch for the Green light of course.

I have also had the feeling that the car was moving when it was stopped at lights.
The first time I thought I wasn't pressing on the brakes hard enough but turns out I was.

I haven't had any of this in a couple months.

Some symptoms just come-and-go like that.

I have also experienced this same feeling. I think it has something to do with the inner ear which seems common in LD.

When I first become ill but didn't know it was LD, I had several bouts of so called inner ear problems. The kind where the whole room is spinning and you can't walk.

Haven't had it this bad since starting treatment, but I still have dizzy episodes and episodes like you describe here.

Yes this was my youngest sons worst symptom! We had every test under the sun to try to figure out what it was. (before we knew it was Lyme)

It has gotten much better with treatment! He still gets it sometimes but not as bad as before. He's been on 1000 mg of Biaxin since March of this year.

I hope your daughter gets better. I know as a mom this was so hard for me. I didn't know what to do to help him. He would just cry [Frown]

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate all the support.

Yes, it is hard enough getting her out and then the car ride makes things even worse. [Frown]

My moton sickness manifested as severe
'gerd' so I may be different,,,because I always am different.

I found by accident that chewing gum or eatting sunflower seeds helped tremendously. Hope it helps you and yours as much as it helped ME!!

I got so tight in the chest from excess gas build up I would get light headed and nauseus. I could burp for hours on end,,no relief there!!

It has gotten better with time, but still not perfect. When it got really bad I got jumpy legs, like restless leg syndrome.

Being hands on or NEAR a electric motor did about same things!! Dont know if it was vibration or electricity frequencies!!

For me, it depends on the car I am riding in. Some are more comfortable, quieter, etc.

I also need to be on back roads as the movement on roads with traffic is too much.

And I recline a bit in the seat.

So sounds, movement, noise, lighting, etc all affect me.

I have improved with treatment and time. But, it still varies on how much time I can spend in a car. I am still very limited.

No radio. That makes it worse. No conversations. Back roads all help. And going slow. Very rare that I can travel on a 55 mph highway.

Taking breaks helps too if the break is a quiet, cool place with no movement around me.
