What did you do?

My heart has been really giving me trouble lately. Hard beats that shake my chest and make me dizzy is the worst of it. Bad shotnes of breath too.

it hits mostly at night, around 9pm and lasts until 1am. it happens during the day also, but is much worse at the night time episode.

I'm not sure what is causing this. I have treated babs twice and taking mepron again now but it does not seem to b doing anything.

Could this be hormones? Is it lyme, since i'm not treating that at the moment?

I'm trying to get int oa cardiologist but I swear no one understands the urgency of how I'm feeling.

thanks

What is your dose of magnesium and how do you split it through the day - and before bed?

How much fish oil do you take in the morning? In the evening?

What is your liver support?

What is your adrenal/endocrine support?

Are you getting enough water and just the right amount of sea salt and electrolytes, especially if you are in one of the heat wave zones right now?

All this matters (and helps) regarding your symptoms. Since you are currently treating, you must have a LLMD. Have you talked to her/him about your heart?

If you do go to a cardiologist, it is best to get a referral from your LLMD as many cardio doctors are not experienced with lyme patients. Be sure to also read the cardiac thread below.

In the meantime, you might increase your magnesium (up to 1,000 mg or higher. Go to bowel tolerance and back down). Calcium should also be increased. Other helpful ideas at the cardiac thread, such as HAWTHORN EXTRACT.

This is included in Burrascano's Guidelines, but you may want to be able to refer to it separately, too:

This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, holds great information about treatments options and support measures:

I take 1600 mg fishoil in the am and 400mg mag at night. I can't take mag during the day because it makes me sleepy.

Hi Blinkie,

Sorry to hear your not feeling well!

I had a lot of heart problems for the first year of lyme and then off and on.

I had two stress test and saw around 7 didn't doctors just for all the heart pain.

They never found anything wrong!!! I went to the ER one night and they kept me over night in the hospital and again ran test all night long.

You should see a cardiologist as soon as possible so you can rule out real heart problems.

My pain and disconforts were all day and all night long.

I hope you feel better!

Take care,
Roy

I would suggest splitting the fish oil so that you get some before bedtime as that is when this is worse. You can go up to 1,000 mg of magnesium (or bowel tolerance). 400 mg is a drop in the bucket.

Since it happens more at night, increased cortisol production could also be involved. That is why the adrenal/endocrine support is so vital. It helps keep that from getting overly excited/exhausted and then pushing the heart.

Also, please be sure to call your LLMD today about this. S/he would want to know and their advice is valuable, especially if you need to get in and have your heart checked they can tell you exactly where to go so that you will be treated with more respect than most lyme patients that just take their chances.

Upping my magnesium dose, and using several different forms of it, usually helps my palpitations go away. Just a thought.

i have bad issues with this. did the holter and showed sinus tach. with up to 135...at rest!!

now however, heart stuff is about gone for me. not sure what exactly did the trick but the improvement was slow, then one day i just kinda noticed....oh, hey...havent had my heart try to leave my chest today, and the next...

resting pulse was 100's since last yr. actually now gest down to 85!!! HUGE improvement for me!!

tx is have done: since 8/09 doxy, cipro for month, then zith/mepron for 3mo and changed to malarone last mo. (cost)
on rochin iv at 2g every 12 hr m-th. now cipro 2xday. first month of cipro was only 1xmonth.

then at next LLMD appt and meds reviwed, he said why only once daily (cipro for bart) and told him i even had notes that is what he said

LLMD said he was wrong, opps, take it 2xday.

(kinda worried, last oopppss was BAD er visit for me with siezures, then noticed 3 rx errors he wrote..hhhmmmmm????)

so, anyway. think hitting bart for me has been the tip me to good.

on mag: i was taking the reg. mag at first and had problems with that. now on slow-mag (get it behind walgreens pharm but is non-prescriptive)

i have titrated up and for me 2 tab in am, then 1 during day spaced out , then 2 at night. when on my cycle i increase the doses (when choc. cravings hit i take more mag)

the slow-mag works MUCH better for my body.
i take the other dr b supps. for late lyme plus zyflamend which LLMD did recommend and is GREAT!!

i ran out, and was off it for 2 wk or so (it is expensive) and did notice HUGE difference in cardio, muscles, brain , etc.

i do think the combo of abt and supps is the key. and i do credit zyflamend for being part of the cardio healing.

now if we can just fix a broken brain!!!

--------------------
i am not a Dr. any info is only for education, suggestion or to think/research. please do not mis-intuprest as diagnostic or prescriptive, only trying to help. **

Blinkie,

An event monitor that is worn for a month (not to worry, if you are going to the beach or pool you take it off, halter tops etc..) gives a really clear picture of what is going on.

It reads and records events even if you don't feel them and you can record events you do feel on your own.

Its a pretty impressive device. Also get an echocardiogram.

Feel better!
