Hi Everyone.....

I have posted a thread about the Mayo Clinic...

My Dh's sister is going there for a diagnosis and treatment....(traveling from Georgia)

For years she has had knee ...leg...weakness...pain...stiffness....
last 3 years she has deteriorated to not really being able to walk and has just purchased a motor scooter........

she has been to doc after doc and tried everything...test after test...pain center..

(she has seen UOS)

(no Lyme in Georgia)....

very looooooooooong story shrt...

As much as my wonderful supportive Dh is ..he thinks that IF she has Lyme she would have more symptoms....in other parts of her body...

ok.....so....my question is.........
can you have symptoms for years in just one part of your body??????....and nowhere else??

(I have sooooooooo many symptoms in all areas of my body)..

I say YES..YES..YES..but I need some back up.. [Wink] ..
..to share with him... [Big Grin]

thanks for any input......

mtree,

Ask her if she has any other symptoms on the

Lyme symptom list.

She may have other symptoms like IBS or say G I disturbances that may seem mild to her because the leg symptoms are so much worse. I would also ask her if she has any of these symptoms at.

www.humaworm.com Let us know,

Gael

She may have other symptoms that she doesn't realize are related. I agree that she should look at the symptom list.

My initial pain was sever headaches on the right side. That was the only real pain for years. I did have other issues though. The two most profound were fatigue and orthostatic intolerance (dysautonomia).

Over time I developed body wide pain - starting in my back and then feet then everywhere.

Good luck.

thank you Gael and Sofi....

the subject of Lyme is not open for discussion right now with her...or anyone in the family....unless it is asked or presented to us...

I just need back up like what you said Sofi about having one..or two symptoms for years....

and yes I agree she probably has many other symptoms that we..(my Dh and I) are not aware of.....

I think that people just don't realize that you don't just get disabled over night with this......
it is soooooo gradual...and sneaky...and boom what the heck?????

but I also know that getting and feeling better is the same....very slowly over time...then ..hey I was off the couch more then on today.. [Smile]

thank you for your replies...much appreciated..

I'll make a $5.00 bet with her.

If they don't refer her to a psych consult or tell her psych meds are needed... or tell her to get more exercise...

I'll send $5.00 to Dr. J's fund.

If they do, she sends $5.00.

Be sure she knows how many children live with what she does and how wonderful Dr. Jones is...

Maybe when I win the bet she will double it to $10.00.
