I notice every time I try and smile, it's like a workout for my face. I guess because I don't smile much with Lyme.

Is this the facial muscles not being worked enough.

Hard to smile with this crap.

It may be nerve related.

There is Craniel V, VII, and more involved in the face and smiling.

So, practice doing "oooooo" followed by "eeeeeee".

Makes your lips pucker then pull into a smile.

How is the sensation of your face?

Any numbness, tingling, weakness to one side?

Thanks Geneal,

I think it is more that I don't smile much do the constant daily Herxing, i.e. not much to smile about.

But I noticed that when my daughter does something that makes me laugh, I can feel the awkwardness in my face muscles.

There is no numbness or tingling per say, I think it's just that I don't smile much these days.

I will practice the "ooooooo's" and "eeeeeeeee's" though. I would think that would help.

You don't actually have to say the "oooooo's" and "eeeeee's",

But it does help with lip and face movement.

Plus it may make your daughter laugh and you too.

When I started smiling again, my cheeks were in so much pain!!! It got better... I can smile for hours effortlessly now.

i get this too...my face muscles feel tight at times...i wonder if it is a tmj thing?

Yes, I had it too. It comes from the cranial nerves being inflamed. It usually subsides with treatment.

Maybe we could all muster a smile the day we hear Shapiro, Steere, Wormser, and company were removed from the IDSA due to poor Lyme treatment protocols and ignoring medical science. [Smile] I don't smile much anymore w/this disease, but that news may help. lol.
