Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with United Healthcare and claims for their IgeneX testing.
We keep checking on our claim for this, and they just keep saying it's processing.
We have had claims submitted after this one go through with no problems, and we're just wondering why it's taking so long.
Does UHC typically pay these claims, or is it a lost cause?
My husband is really upset about having to pay for this, and if we can't get reimbursed at least partially, I doubt he's going to agree to any more testing thru them.
Which sucks because I want him to get tested at some point too because he's having all kinds of weird symptoms....

We have had major problems with UHC paying for Igenex. I have actually sent them a claim for 930.00 for Lyme and co-inefection testing 3 times and they say they never receive it.
We are going to send it certified mail this time cause we think they are just destroying it. They have never paid for any of my Igenex testing. This has been going on since January.

UHC is an evil, evil company, even for a health insurer. For what it is worth, they do the same thing with doctor's payments as well.
I would highly suggest at least trying BlueCross or Aetna if you can change. I'm not sure about Celtic. UHC is the worst insurer around in my opinion, tied with Kaiser Permenente. Admittedly Kaiser is a little better if you ONLY stay within Kaiser doctors, Kaiser approved labs, Kaiser hospitals and more

Everything not great with UHC but they did pay aprox 75% of our Igenix bill.

Thanks for the reminder. I called UHC a minute ago. They told me they never received my invoice and were stumped...yeah, OK. I'm not a moron.
I sent it 55 days ago.

Thanks for the input.
I have had doctors roll their eyes when I told them we have UHC, so I figured wwe'd have issues with them.
We're stuck with UHC till my husband's new benefits kick in, and then I think we'll be even worse off.
The new company only offers Geisinger Health, which seems like a really no name company.

Starfall, I don't have United, but my sister and her family does.
They reimbursed her for a very small percentage of her daughter's Igenex claim. I think the initial claim was for $930, and United paid something like $250. It took about six weeks for them to process the claim.

Yeah, we just called UHC AGAIN about our claim.
Now they tell us we need some kind of a Place of Service code from IgeneX for them to process the claim--
notice how they DIDN'T tell us that?
So we called IgeneX, and they gave us the code (it's 81, in case anyone needs it).
Called UHC back to give it to them.
"We can't just enter something that you're telling us, you need to have IgeneX send a form that has that number on it."
IgeneX said the form they send for claims doesn't have a space for that number, so we have to get some other form from the insurance co.
So now we have to go through even more crap with these idiots so I'm sure they can tell us they won't pay the claim.

Oh, Starfall, it never seems to end. What will they think of next to stall the processing of your claim?
I am sorry you have to go through this.

Submitted it again recently. Not showing up again. I'm sure when I call they'll say it wasn't received via fax.

I will probably be going through the same thing. We just re-sent our Igenex bills last week for the 4th time..
We looked online and they still haven't been processed. This has been going on since November 2008!

They paid the first few (at a small percentage of the total) without a problem but more recently they have done the same thing. First they didn't receive it. Then they needed the place of service code. My LLMD's office didn't even know what that was and it wasn't on the other ones that they did pay.
I resubmitted one that they "never received" and they paid it. Then they sent me something saying they were still waiting for some paperwork on the claim they already paid.
It is a hassle but I have determined that I will not let them make me give up.

Well that sucks!! We just switched to united healthcare the first of June. I still have Medicare as secondary so I should be fine. Hope my husband is never sick.
