So, I had my PICC line put in on June 18th. I take IV Rocephin and oral Zithromax.

I am already having a terrible time with yeast. The Dr prescribed me Diflucan, 100mg 1 time a day. I took that for a week.

I am actually worse now than I was before. I now have a terrible vaginal yeast infection, my stomach is in knots, I have no appetite and my stomach is bloated.

I just re-read the elimation diet and will be more strict with the diet. I wasn't completely no sugar/no carb before so I guess I will be now. [Frown]

The Dr refilled my Diflucan prescription for me. I take a good Probiotic, vitamin C, multivitamins...I will take a trip to the health food store today too to see what they recommend as well.

When can I expect to feel better? I really didn't expect to have this problem after only 3 weeks on the medicine. But, I have never done well with antibiotics.

Thanks!

bn,

i am sorry you are uncomfortable. Yeast stinks!!

Here are just a few suggestions, others will also post Im sure with some other good stuff.

You may want to increase your probiotics and take at bedtime too and avoid taking it within 2 hours of your abx. Not sure how that works with a picc line.

What kind of probiotics are you taking? Is it refrigerated and high culture/high strain? VSL# 3 is a professional grade one you can get in CVS if you ask for the pharmacist.

IMHO this probiotic is the 'motherload' of all probiotics.

Perhaps you can start taking a strong herbal antifungal in addition to to the rx 2-3 times a day. Something such as oregamax or fungal defense. There are others such as coconut oil, wormwood, pau d' arc, garlic, olive leaf, etc. but you need a powerful one.

In addition to the stuff above, a product called CANDEX, which is enzymes that break thru the biofilms of yeast is pretty good.

I found this product really helped me reduce yeast production.

You might want to purchase a douche called 'yeast guard' which neutralizes the area down there. and/or mycostatin cream. UGH... I hate that lower region discomfort too!

Another tip might be to brush your tongue well in the morning while brushing your teeth. Yeast starts on the tongue!

After brushing, use bleach to kill the yeast on your brush. Rinse off well. You can reinfect yourself with your toothbrush. Repeat this every time you brush.

Then gargle with listerine for a full 30 seconds.

Lastly, you may want to start DETOXING if you havent already to get rid of the die off.

There is a good thread on the board right now, but briefly,
lemon water, exercise if tolerated, sweating out the toxins, sauna, steam, whirlpool, epsom salt baths, coffee enemas, etc.

good luck and keep us posted [Smile]

Thank you sooooo much Gemofnj!

I will hit the health food store today and ask for an antifungal. The probiotic I take is UDO's Super 8-Hi and it is refridgerated.

As for detoxing, I am drinking lemon water, taking Milk Thistle, taking epsom salt baths...haven't been exercising too much but could definitely tolerate it so I should.

Can't do sauna or whirlpool because of the picc line. Dr said it will make the the skin sweat under the bandage and that's a no no. He said once it's out I can hit the sauna though.

Thanks again and for all the tips. I really, really appreciate it!

Oh...and I spent many, many summers living in Ocean City NJ as a teenager. I LOVE THE SHORE!

It has taken me trial and error to find the right probotics and right amount of probotics. Also this can change for me if I change meds. Some abx are worse for yeast for me than others.

Does your dr have you on anything to kill yeast? There are some herbal supplements that are supposed to kill yeast but I would ask the dr first cuz some can be toxic.
