Hey guys [Smile]

I've been given Zithro 500mg, Ceftin 500mg and Plaquenil 2x200 mg a day-combo from my doctor.

Any1 else had this combo?

I live in Europe and do not have a LLMD like you have in the states. He says this is a well-used treatment in the US though.

What say you?

And thank you! [Smile]

Hi mupersan,

Is the abx combo working for you? Are you at least herxing? Unless you're having any intolerable symptoms, it's probably okay.

I could never take Plaquenil myself; made my joints hurt real bad. If that should start happening to you, advise your doctor right away, as it can cause permanent damage.

You're fortunate to have a doc that will help you. We don't have many LLMDs here in the US, but I guess we're luckier than most other places around the globe.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing. Do you live in Copenhagen, or other city?

Best to you,

ping [hi]

mupersan, have you looked at Dr. Burrascano's guidelines for the various treatment combos, depending on what your infections are?

Might be a real good idea. They're here in Medical Questions, about the 3rd or 4th thread down. I'd print them out and take to your doctor.

I am currently on that combo, and I am also taking Malarone with it for babesia.

Plaquenil is very hard for me though, so I am on a much lower dose of it.

I find that the best combos are the ones that work best for you....it seems to be very individualized.

If you get to a point where you are not progressing, you could replace the Ceftin with Amoxicillin, and/or replace the Zithromax with Biaxin. Biaxin and Amoxicillin are two other good drugs for Lyme, and I believe they can also be taken with Plaquenil....so take whatever seems to help you.

Hey [Smile]

Thanks for your replies! [Smile]

Too early to tell if the combo is getting me better. Only been on the meds for nearly 2 months. I started treatment i January and have been through 4 months of Doxycycline, Minocycline and Flagyl. I have been diagnosed with Lyme and Rickettsia.

At least I am herxing on this combo. Been feeling a lot worse since I've started. And I just got through my monthly 5-day high fever (103-104), stomachpain and sweating. The fatigue has lifted some days, but the brainfog and memoryproblems have been bad constant since I started this combo.

Im gonna continue this combo for another month. Then my doctor wanted to treat me more agressively. Don't know what he meant by this - upping the dosage or adding another med? Dunno.

Looks like a good combo. Goes after all three forms of Lyme, and the Plaquenil also will mildly help with babs and will make the Zith work better. Looks similar to a combo I really liked.
