Okay, I started herxing on Tuesday. I guess thats what this is. Monday I felt almost normal, then Tues, wham! Fatigue much worse, fluish, increase in pain, etc. Started on doxy 2 and 1/2 weeks prior to this starting.

The last few days, I have noticed that every afternoon around the same time, I get horrendous brain fog.

I have been in treatment for 14 months, but have taken breaks from antibiotics twice. Just came off of a 3 month break. Brain fog was much better before this.

To me this is scary because.....how do you know if its a herxheimer or, am I just getting worse? I haven't had any herx before this that was so distinct. I need some reassurance that this could indeed be a herx.

What would make the brain fog hit at the same time every day? It is accompanied by severe fatigue and anxiety. Need some input!

Thanks

SG

I liked doxycycline, and it was a good brain drug for me.

I would contact my LLMD. You know, you never know if it is a drug reaction or herxing.

I notice you are on Bactrim. Maybe, it is a cross reaction or a negative effect from the Bactrim sulfa drug.

How many drugs are you taking at once? Maybe, the doxy was too much. I would just do the doxy by itself. It's a good drug.

IMO,
CherylSue (I'm not a doctor, so check with him/her first.)

I don't consider it a herx, but I feel worse bewteen 3-7 everyday. I hit a wall, brain gets worse. I think it has to do with our endocirne systems being off. Similar to why we don't sleep right. I am hoping it will get better as I continue treatment.

My problem is making it through it each day. Dr. B mentions the late afternoon lull in his guidelines. Recommends a nap. Alas that isn't an option for many of us.

The only reason I guess that I am considering this a herx for me is that my brain fog had improved with treatment. Then I took 3 months off antibiotics, started back on them and after 2 weeks this starting happening to me. It was so bad that I couldn't even think. Very scary!

We will see how things go today. Yesterday was somewhat better, so the herx may be lifting.

It is true Dave that I do feel worse late in the afternoon, even when I feel better this is when the worst of it hits. You have made a very good observation!
