Anyone ever get positives on co-infection IgM / IgG Ab tests from LabCorp? Specifically what about Babesia WA-1?
I just don't want to pay Igenix more $$$ for testing. I just want to know if there's any chance. My insurer has MDL in-network, but no docs will use them.

seek,
I consistently have tested positive through both Labcorp and Quest.
You may see my post further down where after 2 yrs I have finally gotten a negative. This is cause for joy because the WA-1 is almost impossible to kill.
I only began mepron/zithromax on Mar 9 of this year. I started them after the babesia flared in January.
The doctor does not yet consider me free of the babesia. We are continuing the treatment and she will retest in 5 weeks. This is consistent with the way the ILADS doctors treat.

Wow, all this WA-1 from people not on the West Coast!!
I have traveled out West a lot so it's not beyond possible in any way.

Ive never been to the West coast, but my husband lived on the West coast before we met and has never been tested.
Do you have to live in the West to get WA-1 a majority of the time?

I too have traveled out west, but my doctor says she is seeing many cases here in the east and many have never been out west.
How do you confine ticks to a region when travel is as easy as an airplane ride or car ride or truck ride onboard of a human, canine, feline, equine, etc. Ticks bite mice and mice get around.

After 2 years of treatment for Bb, and after a flare from H*** in late 2008, I was finally diagnosed with WA-1 through LabCorp.
Either I got bit again or the Babs was always there...Not sure which.

How long has Quest been testing for WA-1? Do you have to specify that on the requisition?

Yes - one's doc must specify WA-1 on the lab orders.
No idea how long they've been testing, at least for a few years because I have multiple positives over several years.

My WA-1 was run through Quest regional lab in Chantilly,VA. For some reason I only had IGG run -not sure if the code depends on their lab location.

My initial screening test through Quest was + Babesia, WA-1. The follow up Igenex test also was + Babesia, WA-1. I know Igenex was IGM +...I just don't remember about Quest and it's buried somewhere...good luck. TS
