My daughter was just on this and I assumed it needed to be refrigerated and it turns out it is not supposed to be. She was not on it for Lyme but a UTI but figured someone on here might know the answer. She did seem to have some kind of reaction to it and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it could be because I refrigerated it when I was not supposed to?

Has your daughter ever been exposed to Lyme, or bartonella?

Bactrim might even treat some species of mycoplasma (not sure on that one).

It could just be killing something else she didn't realize she has, or it could be a side effect of Bactrim....even a dangerous side effect (there are risks with Bactrim, like Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS)....you should look that up and be aware of what it is)!

I would call the pharmacist about the refrigeration question, and if you suspect your daughter is having side effects or an allergic reaction to the drug. I would be more concerned with dangerous side effects/allergies/SJS, than that getting it cold did something to it.

I had Lyme before becoming pregnant with her but didn't know it. My doctor now suspects I may have Bart as well. I also had Mycoplasma, don't know if I still do. Luckily, my daughter has been very healthy.

I looked up Stevens Johnson Syndrome and am now scared to death!!! We stopped the Bactrim after 3 1/2 days. She got a fever on the second day, some red bumps and after the last dose developed some sort of upper respiratory thing which is still going on. She's also sweating while falling asleep at bedtime. Her UTI symptoms have cleared up. Her doc said to stop the Bactrim just in case but that she believes she coincidentally picked up something viral.

I am really scared to death here! I think I will bring her back to her doctor tomorrow. She is acting pretty normal overall and her red bumps are better but the respiratory thing is not.
