Hello,

I love my dad dearly! He is a very sweet man who is so generous and helpful. He is also very creative and such a great friend to others.

I am so sad to see my dad in this much pain.

I think he is being misdiagnosed.
I encouraged him to come on this site to find answers. I hope he does. I told him that everyone here was very nice and so very kind.

Here are the details that I know.

He is retired and plays baseball. HE has had to quit because his shoulder hurt so much.

He went for shoulder surgery.
THis shoulder also has , in the past, completely fallen out of it's socket.
IT never went back in. It has been that way for over 5 years at least.
Then he tore the rotator cuff.

Then his back, hips and knees started to hurt him really really badly!!! He was in tons of pain.

My dad is a real tough guy! So to see him hobble around, hunched over from pain was so sad.

THis is what the doctors are telling him.

They are telling him that the back , hip and knee problems are caused by the fact that his spine is shrinking and it is putting pressure on that area.

THey did an MRI to confirm it.

This does not make any sense to me.

I said that the spinal chord would have to be inflammed and swollen to cause that much pain.
An inflammed spine is caused by bacteria.

I really want him to try to go onto Lyme treatment, and co-infection treatment.
Just to see if it helps.

I will even pay for him to be tested.

My dad lives with a couple of cats, and a couple of birds. and I am worried that he got a co-infection from his pets.

My dad goes camping and fishing alot and has friends that live in the country.

He is SUPER informed about Lyme. HE loves to study the subject and is very suppportive while I am on treatment.

HE also wants me to be an activist.

He also has sent friends of his for help because they had Lyme and didn't know what to do.

Those friends have seen an ILAD trained LLMD and now are getting treated!

I will email my dad the replies.

Something just doesn't feel right about this whole issue with my dad's health.
I am so very worried about him. HE lives by himself, so he doesn't have anyone who is observing his deterioation.

We have noticed that he has become very unorganized and we noticed that his house was really messy and unhygenic. It needs a good santization!!!

Then his cats jump up onto food prep. areas and my dad doesn't santitize those areas. I gave him lots of articles about how dangerous this is.

THis is a real personality change for my father.

He used to be so meticulous with everything.
He would polish his shoes, count all his pennies, keep a strict budget, scrub and polish his vehicles, keep a very tidy home, and have a extremely nice yard.

Does anyone think he may have Lyme and co-infections? Should I take him to be tested?

I don't really have money now for that, but I want to save his life and not wait until it is too late.

I am not a doctor. I have no clue.

You should ask about other symptoms. Everything you listed could be arthritis, and pain from it could make him forgetful and not as fastidious.

Lyme is a multi-system disease. So, you need to figure out if there really is more than one system involved. That would be a big clue. Late lyme people tend to have a lot of symptoms, and they don't all fall into one grouping.

Hmmm... I mean, yeah it's possible.
But when your spine is out of alignment it can also cause the hip, back, shoulder etc pain. That was the case for me. I started seeing an upper cervical chiropractor and my hip stopped hurting, knees stopped hurting etc.

If possible, I think he should see a good LLMD and get the bloodwork. Definitely.

If for no other reason he should be have a complete evaluation by a LLMD to please his loving and caring daughter.

No need to stress her out!

Another reason is to truly eliminate the possibility it is Lyme... or not.

LLMD's would LOVE to be able to tell a patient they don't have Lyme. They can assess the situation and ease both your minds.

I was recently told the same type of thing, I was actually dragged so far out on this "diagnosis" that an MRI had confirmed that I had "severe protrusion of the L4,L5,and L6 vertebrae" aka a condition called degenerative joint disease (disorder, syndrome, etc.)which has caused me a lot of pain and suffering, but when talking to an LLMD he said it most likely a complication of lyme, I'm currently in a wheelchair now, from several problems, this being one. he should get checked out asap!

Sorry rather I should say, the best way to figure this out is to see an LLMD asap. He/she would be able to make an establishment.

Best of luck!

Thanks,

I am asking him for more details and about all his symptoms.

He does agree though, that if he ever gets Alzheimer's , that I should do whatever it takes to help him. We are going to arrange it all with a lawyer next year.

I worry most about Bartonella.

I had the same back , hip , knee issues, and went to the chiro everyday.

When I started Lyme treatment , it almost all went away. Now my back just hurts a little, but every day it gets better.

IT's like a miracle.

I hope you can get out of a wheel chair soon---my dear friend "searching-to-rescue"

take care
